Cant br Kasparov he was beaten by deep blue
Actually he won the first match. And you know, for the second, the programmers were allowed to update the hardware in between games!? Now if that isn't cheating, I don't know what is! ?

Actually Kasparov taught Carlson. You are wrong.
Yeah when he was 18. They worked together for around a year.

On top of being the highest rated player ever, #1 in classical, blitz and rapid, engines show that Carlsen is the most accurate player of all time.

he also holds the record for most consecutive matches to end in a draw.

Greatness isn't measured by the same metric as move-accuracy.

12 of those draws are in a world championship between 2 guys playing near perfect chess.

He's not that good. I remember watching a game between him and the Indian Anand, and Anand missed the win. What's more he hasn't done any chess instruction videos on chessbase. It is one thing to win a few games, and another to hold the championship for twenty years. The only reason why Kramnick beat Kasparov was because he trained with him, and learnt the way he thought. Then he refused a rematch. Because he knew he would lose. My money is on the old man!

"Greatest" is subjective. If you're talking about who would win a tourny of everybody in their primes, then you certainly could make an argument for Carlsen. He would have a fucking shitload of draws, but that's part of his advanced calculation. A draw with the black pieces is totally fine in raw calculating terms, so he's not going to risk anything going for the win. More recently, he's fine with drawing even with the white pieces if that would end up with the format changing and him being a massive favorite in the new format. Absolutely the correct decision strategically and the safest thing to do . . . but safe is boring.

It's also difficult to compare across generations, because somebody like Carlsen (and even Fischer, to a lesser extent) studied massive databases of opening positions and learned tried-and-true end-game theories. When you go back 100 years, there was much less of that sort of thing and more risky over-the-board calculation, which is far more entertaining and less likely to result in a draw. I mean, yeah, 2019 Carlsen would probably destroy the ghost of Capablanca or Morphy or Tal because Carlsen has closely studied many of their games. As for Fischer, who the fuck knows. That dude was brilliant but also completely nuts. He studied as hard as Carlsen but had less useful material to work with.

Longevity isn't enough. Lasker was the reigning world champ for 27 years, but nobody thinks he's the GOAT . . . or even the best player of his era.

How do you guys know so much about Chess Gods?
study them?
watch competitions?
Yes that, and you kind of pick up insights in to the game and it's history, as you go along. I have never played competitively enough to get an official rating however. However Maurice is a grandmaster, which means he knows what moves you are going to make, before you even start playing! lol
