Oooooh damn...you have a bottle of Old Rip?! Outstanding!
I've been looking for years. When a local store gets some they usually have a raffle. I walked in a couple of weeks ago and bam one bottle just sitting there. I couldn't grab it fast enoughOooooh damn...you have a bottle of Old Rip?! Outstanding!
I’ve raffled a couple times for that bottle, but never won.
Hell yeah, that’s awesome!I've been looking for years. When a local store gets some they usually have a raffle. I walked in a couple of weeks ago and bam one bottle just sitting there. I couldn't grab it fast enough
Yeah, that's good.Yesterday I got a bottle of Angel's Envy Straight Rye
Fantastic drink. Very sweet, way more than I would have ever guessed. Like a dessert. Worth trying if you get the chance.
I think I’ve only had their bourbon, not sure I’ve seen their rye at the local stores.Yeah, that's good.
That bottle didn't last long. Got crushed during a poker night.
I ran a 5k race this morn, pretty sure that entitles me to a drink before 11am hahaI think I’ve only had their bourbon, not sure I’ve seen their rye at the local stores.
Im glad to see I’m not the only one thinking about whiskey first thing in the morning
Totally just saw this because you quoted yourself and I didn't get a notification.Do you have anything aging in the little cask? Or decorative?
There are some bars/restaurants here in town that take good label brand spirits and do small batches of a little extra aging in spall casks to change their flavor up a bit. Kind of unnecessary, but I’ve definitely had a few drinks from those. Don’t know that I’ll ever try it, but could be a fun experiment.
So you are mixing a shit ton of bourbons and scotch in that thing?Totally just saw this because you quoted yourself and I didn't get a notification.
Anyway.. .Yes. The cask was something my girlfriend gave me and I use it for my "Infinity bottle."
Sometimes it tastes weird. Sometimes I wish I could bottle and sell the concoction inside. Just depends on what was running low and how many similar bottles were emptied into it. I try to be smart and not toss any crazy stuff in there that will ruin it though. A little heavy smoke like an Ardbeg or just a young garbage whiskey will kill it until it's thinned enough.
Yep. When a bottle gets to the last pour or so it gets dumped into the barrel. So you are mixing a shit ton of bourbons and scotch in that thing?
Interesting. I might have to try this.Yep. When a bottle gets to the last pour or so it gets dumped into the barrel.
Only whiskeys though. None of the other spirits get added.
Like I said, I try to be smart though. Certain notes will just jump to the top and dominate. That's no good for any of us.
People have done it for years and normally just do it in a nice empty bottle. I never planned on it but my gal picked up the little barrel one day and I happened to have a few low bottles lingering so it just made sense at that moment to give it a go.Interesting. I might have to try this.
That’s awesome. I’m going to order a barrel and give it a go.People have done it for years and normally just do it in a nice empty bottle. How's the Buffalo Trace?
I like it quite a bit, and it is a great bourbon for the price point. It’s the kind of bourbon I like to always keep on hand, sort of my “house bourbon” if you will. Very easy to drinkHow's the Buffalo Trace?
Cheers, brother.
I honestly haven't. I really only sit down and have a drink when I'm watching fights and I haven't watched the last few. I had some Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey a couple weeks ago but that's more like scotch than it is bourbon.
How was it? Saw it today and was curious.I honestly haven't. I really only sit down and have a drink when I'm watching fights and I haven't watched the last few. I had some Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey a couple weeks ago but that's more like scotch than it is bourbon.
Just my $0.02:How was it? Saw it today and was curious.
I picked up a bottle of Jefferson's Ocean and High West Campfire for a coworker that just retired. We're having a little party this Friday for him and I thought they would make solid gifts. That man loves a good story and the story behind those stuck out to me so hopefully he'll be entertained and think that they're tasty as well.
