Cut the homophobic and racist line stepping.
Wanna flirt and make jokes with the other members whatever. Even my gay friends can appreciate a friendly ribbing with each other. But stop turning it into a slippery slope. It's not what we want to be about.


Also, Gay mayor Pete is a strong political candidate and it's only his youth and timing that makes him not competitive at the top of the ticket. He's a face of the christian left that the Dems have been missing for years.

Those tweet comments and the interviewer fundamentally misunderstand how the military determines troop movements, which is lead from the executive branch.

Yes the number is led by the military to meet the mission...the mission that is being set by the commander in chief.
Bolton is very hawkish towards an interventionist middle east policy. If our only goal was defense of allies against Iran, we have enough troops to do that in Kuwait and our air/sea assets nearby. They exist against first strike moves by Iran and justify the full scale invasion in response.
But the goal isn't that. It's to align ourselves with the Saudis, UAE, Isreal, in a master plan to reshape soft alliances in the middle east...against Iran.

Here is what Bolton believes:

Mr. Obama’s fascination with an Iranian nuclear deal always had an air of unreality. But by ignoring the strategic implications of such diplomacy, these talks have triggered a potential wave of nuclear programs. The president’s biggest legacy could be a thoroughly nuclear-weaponized Middle East.

The question shoehorns the conversation into a this or that. But its not. If you believe that middle east policy is not being shaped by Bolton, then its someone else. But military brass doesn't just add troops without a political side from the Executive laying out the intended policy. Bolton is pushing the policy and the military leaders are asking for the support to implement it.

And he threw his support behind universal prekindergarten for 3- and 4-year-olds.

Because throwing money in school districts were many kids do not want to go or learn is going to make a difference. I don’t have the answers to fix that but I know without changing ingrained attitudes and behavior first is nothing but a fools errand.

It does.

There are measurable and statistically significant improvements in social economic outcomes for better funded schools and for preK.

It is as much exactly what you say as anything but it still works to combat poor social environments. It works because you take children out of broken homes and give them a semblance of supervision for a large period of the day early on. you provide inputs that low socioeconomic parents don't have the ability to provide due to their own lack of education. You allow low socioeconomic women to work earlier improving home incomes.

So yes, it works. And people hate it only because it acknowledges societal failures at home as well as societys responsibility towards all children.

It takes village and always has.
