6/10.

I loved the editing and cinematography. The story was overall interesting. Acting dead pan and...soooo close to me liking it, but I just feel like so much potential never coming together fully.

See it, watch it. Like it, don't love it.

Booked tickets to see the Breaking Bad movie, I'm pretty nerdily excited.

I've avoided watching the trailers but yeah, giddy excited.
I haven't seen it yet either but it deserves an award solely on the fact that I understood your post about it. I am proud of both of us.

Beverly Hills Cop (1984)

9/10

Yes I've seen it before.

Murphy at the perfect time in his career. In 1982 he did 48 Hrs with Nick Nolte, in 1983 he did Trading Places with Dan Akroyd.
Beverly Hills Cop came out in 1984 and it is all Eddie Murphy. His comedic timing and expressions are absolutely perfect in this movie.

Some cameos I completely forgot about and a recurring theme I didn't notice until now:
Damon Wayans played the gay fruit merchant who gave Eddie the bananas for the classic "banana in the tailpipe" scene.
Bronson Pinchot (Balky from Perfect Strangers) played Serge the gay art dealer ("Get the fuck out of here! Naw, I'm serious I sold it myself!")

There was actually another gay scene where Axel was trying to talk to Victor Maitland but the waiter was being difficult so he gave him the whole "Herpes Semplex 10" story.

His friend Jenny Summers was super hot and there wasn't a hint of sexual tension between her and Axel. Very odd for a mid-80s action/comedy movie.

Not that it matters as this is an outstanding movie regardless, but I now have this thought:
Was Axel Foley gay?

Well lets not forget that Murphy has been caught with trannies before.
I mean, not one, but a few.
Maybe.... just like, maybe...

I'm talking Axel the character. Not Eddie in real life.

He seemed to enjoy the playboy mansion in the second movie, but one could argue that was his "cover" because being gay wasn't acceptable in the 80's.
When they were in the strip club and Billy was tucking singles into the girls g string, Axel noticed the dudes who were fixing to rob the place.

Just throwing that out there.

I agree, but that's the first movie. Maybe he was waiting to get back to Detroit to fill Jenny.

He had Jenny alone in his upgraded suite at that swank hotel. She tossed herself on the bed and instead of jumping her bones he ordered a shrimp sandwich for the cops that were tailing him.

Watched Halloween last night. The original.

7/10

Definitely a trend setter, but overall it was just OK. Jamie Lee Curtis was the only actor who put in a decent performance. Donald Pleasance was OK but he was used pretty sparingly. He literally disappears for parts of the movie and then suddenly you see him again and are like "Oh yeah. Forgot about that guy"

The 2 other main girls in the movie were horrible actresses. Just horrible.

And the sound editing is a little dated. Too much focus on the sounds of struggling and whimpering. It's also close to the best example of "Things not to do when a killer is after you".

This movie is as high as a 7 simply because of Carpenter's creepy music and the suspenseful flow of the movie. Some of the scenes are shot very well from Michael Meyers point of view. Very innovative.

I watched the Lorena Bobbitt documentary on Netflix. The prosecutor in that case is a real piece of shit, no surprise. I think he sandbagged the prosecution of Lorena once he thought that John was going to get off.

And the film kept trying to make this subtle connection between Trump's misogyny and Bobbitt's - because Bobbitt is a big Trump supporter.
In a 4 hour documentary, they spend literally less than a minute talking about how John's father beat his mother, his uncles (mom's brothers) would come over to the house and beat up his dad. Then his Dad left and the family moved in to the ghetto - where his mom was raped twice, and he and his brothers were regularly attacked at beaten. Then his mom dumped him and his brothers with their uncle and never saw them again. That's when John's uncle sexually abused him and his brothers for 3 or 4 years....

but it's his Trump-ness that made him a violent wife-beater.

They tried really hard to make Lorena in to a hero of women's rights, and to paint it has Newt and Republicans vs Joe Biden and the Democrats in the struggle against domestic violence...Dems good, Reps bad...but IMO she was just an angry lady in a situation that she didn't know how to get out of without mutilating someone. Bobbitt deserved to be convicted of spousal abuse, and Lorena deserved to be convicted of Mutilation. But the DA, Paul Ebert, is a real piece of shit who only cared about squeezing all the publicity he could out of the case.

just like the director of this film.

final verdict: 1 of 8 Inches.

Breaking bad movie was average.
What a disappointment.
5/10
I couldn't stand Jesse for most of the show...so a movie about his pussy ass after his pussy ass behavior fucked over so many was kinda lame

Should have been about skinny Pete and Badger...maybe that is the next movie

I will go about 5/10 myself...well done but not the closure/characters I was looking for

Think Song2 covered it as being a good extended episode.

I'm obsessed with everything Breaking Bad, I was just happy to see more of it.
