Super Size Me 2: Holy Chicken
Newish documentary from the Super Size Me guy who ate nothing but McDonalds for a month.
This one isn't an experiment on diet, but rather a deep dive into the chicken industry. I knew a little bit about the farmers bitching about how the big chicken industries (Tyson, Pilgrims, Perdue, etc) dictate how much - and how little - chicken farmers earn on a given flock. It's called a tournament system where the per pound price fluctuates based on what appears to be a completely subjective grading scale. The farmers don't know where they'll rank or how much they'll be paid until after the chickens are sent to slaughter.
The film touched on the "health halos" that fast food joints have been so focused on for the last 10 years or so in an attempt to make their product appear more healthy than it actually is, and it also exposed the bullshit chicken terms that mean absolutely nothing (free range, non hormone, etc).
Entertaining and educational. Worth a watch. 7/10
