sparkuri @sparkuri I wasn't aware you were in an affected area. I guess that does help justify some of your panic. My stance is still the same, and as a friend I just want you to be happy and from my point of view, you aren't happy right now. You are in full panic mode and if the more healthy option is between two options, panic over something you can't control and worrying about it constantly versus trying to reassure yourself your chances of surviving is high, I would think the more healthy mindset is the latter.

Just constantly google positive things like the entire US population, focus on people have been recovering from it. Just start thinking more positive broski. All this worrying cannot be good for your health system.
What?

I'm working out and watching movies, lol.

mysticmac @mysticmac You're in Seattle what is your mindset regarding this? I don't see you freaking out like Sparkuri is. Not that you should either.

Does it seem like Spakuri isn't freaking out to you? I'm not the only one to speculate he went in to full panic mode several pages ago.

Go to a Fedor fight with him. This is the equivalent of him trying to pick out what flavored ice cream to get.

You confuse the shit out of me with this analogy lol. But you know I love me some Fedor. Are you asking would I attend an mma event with Sparkuri to watch Fedor if Sparkuri was infected? Probably. No hand holding though.

IF you read the thread he had super bad lung issues a few weeks or month ago...so he is playing it smart IMO.

I don't care what he thinks or is speculating about, that is his right to do so...Freedom of thought and freedom of expression is what makes this country great.

I will tell you what he isn't doing, he isn't spreading any germs or viruses.

That is all I got, I don't care that some people think it is nothing...and I don't care if people take it super serious and are potentially overreacting.

Freaking out, no? This is a virus that is killing elderly people. While I don't think I'm at risk of death if (and that's a big if) I were to get it, a) I don't want it, and b) that isn't really how a responsible citizen thinks about how a virus spreads. Even if it doesn't greatly affect me, me and people like me can carry the virus and infect others. That spreads the virus and causes more deaths. I don't want to do that.

Does that mean I lock myself in my home? No. I go to the gym everyday. I go to the store. I go to get food. I go hang out with friends, etc.

I don't really worry about it, but I'd rather not go to downtown Seattle (I live in a more residential neighborhood of the city). There are just too many people down there. An office building a block away from mine has already been closed because someone was sick and they weren't sure if it was this virus. Most of my co-workers haven't been going to the office (it is easy for us to work from home). My boss and his daughter are currently sick (most likely not with this). He lives a couple of miles from the nursing home where old people are dying from this, and his daughter's high school was recently closed for sanitizing because a bunch of students were sick and people were worried about this virus. He's already told me and my coworkers that he's going to WFH this week (he did so last week while he was sick) and we can do the same.

That isn't uncommon around here right now. Schools are being shutdown and office buildings are too. My boss told me earlier today that his sons' school is considering "remote learning" which I had never heard of until today, but given video conferencing software nowadays, I guess that's an option.

I don't see anyone really freaking out beyond schools and businesses that don't want to be held liable should something happen.

Add to all of that, that this is Seattle and the weather has been shitty. People are staying inside anyway.

This part is the only part you got right, 12 Monkeys, because this gave me an excuse to watch it. But that excuse was to create a hyperalertness within the minds of my family regarding habits mysticmac @mysticmac hit on, which is working.

My younger brother runs security for the largest senior care facility in Seattle.
He'll be on the news likely this week when scares begin there, and he will now look like a knight in shining armor with the precautions he implemented.

My mother works there too as a receptionist, and is at a very high risk.
Because she has put her pride aside and obeyed me, the facility will be in good shape had she not, but I'm still concerned, of course.

My brother runs a very popular food truck and has already been on the news twice, and his business precautions are essential for everyone eating that food, which are Boeing workers of the Puget Sound.

One daughters has turned my hime into a clean zone, it's unreal.
The other one did her own thing and found herself in a hot zone, across the street from where the people are dying.

I think Dr. Drew said it best today, which is basically what I've been telling people for weeks(which was a government planted propaganda seed):
" Media 'needs to shut up' about Corona virus saying 'you're more likely to die of influenza'.

Again, AND AGAIN!.. the focus, like all bleeds/leads news, is "death", and although terrible, it shouldn't be, nor stop there.
From the beginning there have been multiple implications tied to this outbreak, and those are what I and many have echoed, and there's a hundred sayings that mirror this.
I like this one from the movie Winter Soldier.

" .... was founded on the belief that humanity could not be trusted with its own freedom. What we did not realize is if you tried to take that freedom they would resist.
The war taught us much. Humanity had to surrender its freedom willingly."

.....

Waaahhh it's the virus.

They put out a thing at work today. No more shaking hands. Which is good, as I waste too much of my day shaking these folks hands. It's lunacy

If he is gone for now I will answer for him

he goes out every 3 days for water and food...his city has been shut down for at least 2-3 weeks
he is 200-400 miles from wuhan, his city has not been hit super hard(allegedly) and there are not an amazing number of "cases"

He has posted all of this on this board and OG, and some in this thread.
Brother is bored.

streets are barren.

they take temp for mcdonalds

for KFC you get served at the street...can't get 50 feet from door.

Yes, I dual forum.
