There's a balance of course. But no No one is arguing that. That is exactly how you math out when you turn the interventions on and off and at what significance. What harm are you causing versus helping. But for the mental exercise, Society is paying to lower the death rate with a fair estimated range 5% down to 1%. So 12 million lives? What's the cost (actually asking, I dunno) of each life being paid? How much is each person paying for that life? Interesting actuarial thoughts outside of the ethics of monetizing your entry to this lottery.

Back to the point though, how does China come out of this? Do they?

Did the math. wtf Enock-O-Lypse Now! @ENOCK

Too early for perfection but news economist thinks our longterm hit with the coronavirus measures is 800 billion in permanent loss for the shutdowns.
5%->1% death rate = 12 million lives saved

800 bil / 12 mil = 66666.666666 per person saved
Why is it always 6?!?!

Each american will lose $2666 forever (and more temporarily but some will come back in delayed payments according to the article.)

This one hits close to home since I'm in production, and have my IA card where I can work in Local 631 and 500..... Industry wide, there are 250,000+ production staff, lighting, audio, video, pyro/SFX, staging, rigging, craft service, quartermasters and heavy machinery people..... I've lost 8 weeks of work, at my day rate, my per diem rate.... It sucks..... Not to mention I can't get music gigs, Disney is closed so I can't manage events there, and the gym is dead..... Fuckin sucks
all my work is stuck on a cargo ship in middle of the ocean right now.

That doesn't really matter since you'll infect both within 2 weeks of The same timeline of each other without interventions. Right?
I was thinking we're on the same path as Italy just at a delayed / slower rate due to the population difference ...could be wrong though, been sick for 2 weeks.

Agreed, but same rate. Doubling every three days.
So 60-120-240-480.
Population difference only results in about a 12 day difference in infecting either maximally.

Lol @ this. Their average base salary is $120k per year. The employees will wipe their asses with that money since it's not enough to even hose off the sidewalks of human feces in front of their homes.
that's still 45 million

The guy that runs the night shop, who can only open his window now, customers not allowed inside, told me that all shops have to close by 10pm starting tonight.
