Nah, I wouldn't go that far. This is most likely from Big Tobacco wanting more profits and see that so many people in certain areas moving away from analog cigarettes in favor of vaping, it's a no brainer they would use their lobbying power to make vaping as unenjoyable as possible. Hopefully we find loopholes. I think one would be to buy 0% nicotine fruity juice and simply add your own nicotine to it. I used to do that 10 years ago and it worked rather well.

I’m back on the fags.

I quit with the juuls for three months but now I’m down to 5 maybe 10 cigarettes a day.

would love to just stop.

over here a lot of my friends make their own juices . I personally had all that stuff but preferred the ease of the juul once it delivered the hut. Wasn’t bothered about the cloud.

FWIW - the push started under President Obama. But it's really gained traction in the last year or so, as vaping has exploded in popularity.
They're even trying to conflate the fact that smoking is a risk factor for COVID19 with vaping - even though there's no evidence that vaping is related. Vaping has a different mechanism that causes irritation, and it doesn't cause the 'deep lung' irritation that smoking does.

People who advocate for single-payer health care need to understand that 'your health' is going to be at the bottom of the priority list.

I don’t doubt that big industries corrupt ALL politicians.

just find it strange the health Secretary General would go to bat against vaping in favour of smoking.

also didn’t Marlboro spend like 34 billion buying a 30% share in juul a couple of years ago?

juule is a 'flavorless' version, which means it tastes like butthole sweat.

they've really been working to get a tolerable product to market, their only 'ban' angle is "think of the children" - so they want to outlaw flavored vapes, so they have a competitive advantage. And the fact that most smokers will go back to cigarettes if they can't have flavored vapes

I have tobacco flavour. Broke my vape other day. All vape shops shut. Got a blu thing with 9mg tobacco cartridges.

Don cristo vape juice is a very good tobacco choice, I had one with a coffee twist. Not been able to find it since.

I've even had a tobacco and custard flavour one.

Not that berry or fruity stuff tho. That's for the puffs

The media narrative shift to minority death percentage is annoying.

We can't get flavored dip here anymore because of that bullshit. Turns out governments get kickbacks from tobacco companies, which is why they're so eager to push these laws through.

Over here, the States get paid by the number of sick people. They literally have a quota of people they need to get sick from tobacco in order to keep their budgets solvent. And if you look at the States that are pushing the anti-vape hardest, it's the States that leveraged their tobacco income the heaviest - New York, CA, Washington...it's genuinely disturbing.

But these are the same mechanisms we should trust with all public health care decisions.

Did you wear a mask? I wore one for the 1st time the other day because I had to go to the store for essential pork cracklings. My son is a plumber so he gave me this to wear.

Is this what you are talking about with the exhale valve?

My sister made some fabric masks and is mailing them to the whole family. Those I can machine wash.

Yes. If you are exhaling through that check valve, the goal of you being an asymptomatic patient not contaminating me is gone. At worst, that narrow egress could aerosolize droplets or increase their distance by velocity increases.

By the way- if you see sensitivity/specificity numbers for any of the Coronavirus tests, please let me know.
Will do. It's wild west out here with everyone marketing and little data available. Even news only find time a relevant thing to link and publish. No discussion on whether tests are PCR or antibody based.

the thing is - I get that the Surgeon General is a political/propagandist post. I understand that Jocelyn Elders was fired for speaking the truth. I get that C. Everett Koop is revered for telling lies. But those truths and lies were all in the interest of public health.

WTF is wrong with a person that they can tell lies that they know cause suffering and death? And I'm supposed to trust the same people who put him in that chair to put the people that will put my health first in charge of a single-payer system...

Smoking looks cool.
Vaping looks dorky.

That's all that really matters. Come at me.
