how long do you think we should stay "locked down"?
should we wait for a vaccine?
how long do you think we should stay "locked down"?
You wait until new cases have slowed to a trickle and do a staged release with certain things still locked down. Say gatherings over 50-100, limited travel between geographical areas and things like that. Then you do contact tracing, blanket testing and renewed lockdown of areas where you get an outbreak.how long do you think we should stay "locked down"?

at least you have a planYou wait until new cases have slowed to a trickle and do a staged release with certain things still locked down. I'm wary of giving the whole population a tracking app. It's ok for people who enter a new country for a limited period, but there are serious ethical concerns about giving a government that power. I think you'd have to limit the contact tracing to word of mouth retelling of travels and then some sort of news delivery service to inform people who have been to those areas, public transport, etc, to report for testing. If that doesn't work to isolate the virus then you lock down the area and test everyone.at least you have a plan
can't say I agree with it but I am sure many do
Contact tracing huh
via cellphone or what method should this utilize
We should be mass producing all potential vaccines simultaneously to testing them and then drop them if they prove to be ineffective.UK scientists to make a million potential COVID-19 vaccines before proof
A million doses of a potential COVID-19 vaccine being developed by British scientists are already being manufactured and will be available by September, even before trials prove whether the shot is effective, the team said on Friday.
The Oxford scientists said on Friday they were recruiting volunteers for early stage - Phase 1 - human trials of their shot, and large-scale production capacity was being put in place “at risk”. This means the shots will be produced in large numbers at risk of being useless if trials show they do not work.
“We have started at risk manufacturing of this vaccine not just on a smallish scale ... but with a network of manufacturers in as many as seven different places around the world,” Adrian Hill, a professor and director of the Jenner Institute at Oxford University, told reporters in an online briefing.
“The aim is to have at least a million doses by around about September, when we also hope to have efficacy (trial) results.”

I'll convey your message to the scientists. We should be mass producing all potential vaccines simultaneously to testing them and then drop them if they prove to be ineffective.
Isn't that what Gates is trying to do? It's quite a few pages back but I recall an article someone posted of him saying he wants to start four facilities testing/producing different approaches in case one of them works they're ahead of the game. It does make sense if you think about it.We should be mass producing all potential vaccines simultaneously to testing them and then drop them if they prove to be ineffective.

A psychologist is qualified to have an opinion on global social experiments. What in the fuck is wrong with people?
Hospital data show there is enough space to treat Texans with COVID-19, Abbott said. He announced that non-emergency medical procedures can resume starting April 22. Doctors and nurses will continue treating coronavirus patients and a robust supply chain will provide enough personal protective equipment, Abbott said.
fuck ya
This is a great reason to not feed wildlife and make them dependent on us.So I ran out of peanuts last week and because I don't go to supermarkets any more (they all require the wearing of masks now but they're still too crowded for me) I had to wait a few days for my grocery delivery to be able to feed the birds and squirrels in my complex.
Well they were not happy about that at all. The woodpecker stopped talking to me completely, the blue jays and the squirrels were getting very impatient and probably wouldn't have lasted another day, and when I was on my patio yesterday a crow landed 3 feet away from me with his mouth wide open. Dude was fucking PISSED.
I think I've calmed the last 3 down with the re-up in peanuts today. No sign of the woodpecker (my favorite ) but inshallah he shows back up soon.
If anyone knows a good site to buy large bags of roasted (not salted and not raw) peanuts, please let me know.

I get it, I have crows I'm friends with. I give them shiney things, play crow calls, and they eat the grubs in my lawn. Like nature intended. They're not dependent on me but I value their friendship
