What could you charge the guy in the car with, unless you knew they were going to kill him when you ran him into their trap? Which of course isn't what happened by any evidence.

It's a dude in a car video taping. wtf.
Crump is the new Al Sharpton/ Jesse Jackson.

Hes all for unity but he only holds angry rallies against the police and white people. I've never heard him ask people to take responsibility for their actionss unless they are white

I await that video. Seems that is the primary case here and its strange this video is released and that one is not.
Yeah, I'd like to see it too. However, I don't think that is the primary issue for a murder or manslaughter case here. That issue is that the dead guy attacked the resident and attempted to arm himself. At that point, the resident has the right to defend himself.

They could still make a case against the right to pursue a citizens arrest if this additional evidence turns out to not exist. Even then, there would have to be evidence they had no knowledge to justify the pursuit. All they would have to do is say they saw him in the house.

Surely its not that simple...

What's a persons right to self defense against someone trying to unlawfully detain them at gunpoint?

If you are not part of said crime, what are you allowed to do in response to someone trying to citizen arrest you at gunpoint?

That is, the only way this is a citizens arrest is if there is a crime and this guy is part of it.

Otherwise two guys with guns tried to detain you... Not what's common sense, but what are you allowed to do in response to that (threat?)?

They were arrested today, jailed, and booked for murder and aggravated assault.

Arrests made in shooting death of black man after outcry

Brunswick defense attorney Alan Tucker identified himself Thursday as the person who shared the video with the radio station. In a statement, Tucker said he wasn’t representing anyone involved in the case. He said he released the video “because my community was being ripped apart by erroneous accusations and assumptions.”

would the videotaper be arrested if he initiated the chase? like if he told the accused that the victim was a burglar trying to get away.

Some interesting information. Earlier in this thread, it was stated that there had been a "rash of burglaries" in the neighborhood and so the shooters were on the lookout for a potential burglar.

In the local paper, you can see a list of reports to police in the city of Brunswick. The link below covers the period from January 1 to the end of February when the shooting took place. While there are burglaries around town, you'll note that the area of Satilla Shores doesn't seem to have some burglary epidemic going on.

Here is a map of the Satilla Shores neighborhood for reference: Google Maps

Street names are Satilla Drive and Burford Road (where the shooting took place), Holmes Road, Jones Road, and Zellwood Drive in the immediate area if you look at the police blotter.

Based on other reporting in the paper, there has been a problem with drug addicts stealing guns from unlocked vehicles and selling them to buy more drugs. In fact, Brunswick is filled to the brim with opioid addicts and was the site of a major opioid bust and subsequent civil suit by the Justice Department of a local pharmacist: Georgia pharmacy, pharmacist accused in civil suit of unlawfully dispensing thousands of opioids and other controlled substances

Here you can read the dialogue during the 911 calls as the operator is puzzled over why exactly they're calling. At no point do they mention the house under construction being robbed, just that Ahmaud was near it.

Apparently, the father in the back of the truck had investigated the dead guy back when the father was an investigator for the DA.

EXCLUSIVE: Father of Brunswick shooter previously investigated victim
"“This family are not strangers to the local criminal justice system,” Barnhill wrote in his letter to Carr. “From best we can tell, Ahmauds older brother has gone to prison in the past and is currently in the Glynn jail, without bond, awaiting new felony prosecution. It also appears a cousin has been prosecuted by DA Johnson's office.”"

This is exactly what I expected

From what I've been reading, it sounds like the second video is not of the guy robbing the house that day. There had been two previous burglaries as well as someone fitting this guy's description hanging around the neighborhood possibly at the same house. One of the burglaries was a S&W M&P 9mm that had been stolen from the vehicle of the father that was involved in the shooting.

I think the second video came from the same house involved that day. It sounds like that house had been under construction for awhile because the owner had heart issues. It also sounds like the initial caller saw the guy in the house that day based on the call transcript. It also sounds like the father also saw the guy leaving the property based on his witness statement in the police report.

Sources:
The police report from the shooting. You can see the four linked cases for trespassing and theft.
At least a partial transcript of both 911 calls from the shooting.
More info about the previous incidents cited in the police report.

The previous incidents in the area are listed as linked incidents in the police report from the shooting. Their case numbers are G20-00093, G19-62302, G19-67433, and G20-08656. It has also been stated that $2500 of fishing equipment was stolen from a house that was under construction and this was not reported. It is possible this was the same house involved that day and in trespassing issues. The owner had a heart condition, so the house was left like that for awhile. See my post above for links to sources.

If this is the report you're quoting from, all of those are from the same incident including the 911 call reporting trespassing, possible burglary, and homicide. Also note one of the case numbers you mention was from an incident that happened after the murder.

Again, there was no rash of burglaries in the neighborhood. What is the source on the unreported missing fishing equipment? And again, if there was missing equipment from an unoccupied house that wasn't reported, it doesn't exactly necessitate calling up the local vigilantes.

The police report lists Larry English as another victim. It was his home involved in the incident. He is also the victim of the stolen fishing equipment as confirmed by this Vox article (of all sources).

Gregory McMichael claims he was in his front yard when he saw Arbery “hauling ass,” after which he ran inside to get a weapon and his son, Travis. He told police that he said, “Travis, the guy is running down the street, let’s go.”

By “the guy,” he meant the person responsible for what some in the neighborhood have described as two burglaries. Larry English, a man building a home in the McMichaels’ neighborhood, said someone stole $2,500 in fishing gear from him earlier this year. English told the Daily Beast he never reported the theft. The second was reported to police by Travis McMichael, who said a 9mm pistol was stolen on January 1 from a vehicle parked outside his home.

In the police report filed after Arbery’s killing, Gregory McMichael said the burglar had been caught on surveillance video and that Arbery matched the description of the suspect
