Testing gives us an accurate count of how close we are to heard immunity. Masks don't, masks actually impede ever getting accomplishing herd immunity which is the goal. Remember that it's slow the spread not stop it. At the rate we're going right now it's going to be 2 years before we have the numbers to support letting people get back to normal.

It also occurs to me that masks are being used by a lot of government groups as a distraction tactic but that's a different conversation.
No epidermiologist has said herd immunity is the goal without a vaccine.

That is what masks do. Remember you telling me that masks are no guarantee for protection? It's slows the spread. Herd immunity may occur only after a vaccine is available. I would not want to wait that long and expose so many people to reach that 80%. We've need to achieve the herd effect with a vaccine preferably.
No, that's what social distancing does. Masks are another further layer of protection preventing infection.

Doug Ford should be ashamed and step down.

All other provincial leaders should audit their provinces care homes immediately and respond as necessary.

Do these care facilities not have to be accredited? Another example of why some things needs to be overseen or ran by the govt.
They are inspected but the previous government slashed their inspections to once every three years and it’s scheduled so they know when people are coming.

of course you think he should step down lol

But that was a goal he stated. Not something that would happen? Something the U.S. is aiming for?
I haven't been able to find where is stated what the US was aiming for. I've only found where he said there could be 800k deaths in the next 18 months.

Every 3 years is insane. Should be more like every 3 months.

Yeah, so that's not a saying it's a goal.

'
“Covid-19 will go away eventually in one of two ways,” he wrote in a March 21 op-ed for the Washington Post. “Either we will develop a vaccine to prevent it, or the virus will burn itself out as the spread of infection comes to confer a form of herd immunity on the population. Neither of those possibilities will occur quickly.”

Osterholm has estimated that 1.6 million Americans will die from coronavirus. That’s based on an assumption that half of the U.S. population will become infected, and one percent of those will succumb to COVID-19.'

This is what I've found with a quick search. That's not saying herd immunity is a goal to be persued.

The government that slashed it also ran up massive deficits pissing away the money on fruitless endeavours and vanity projects. They had no problem spending money, just on things that didnt matter

the two orchestrators of that government are now Trudeau’s main hands and are doing the same shit on a federal level

welcome to canada

Without a vaccine? So he wants near 2mil deaths in the U.S.?
Always the provocateur, eh?

No, he pointed out (in early March) that we let people get it or we get a vaccine. At the time he also pointed out we're 18-24 months from a vaccine being a reality.

Looks like places are potentially misquoting him. In this article he gives a range of 800k - 1.6 million.

Rogan had him on in early March for anyone interested in getting it straight from the horse's mouth.

No, he was fired. Until they rehired him.
