I am having this similar problem except pretend they lied to you about how many people were at their party, that they wore masks the whole time, and how close they got to the visitors.
I didn't actually get openly angry - I didn't even call them out for lying. There was no point in continuing the conversation at that moment and letting them argue with me. I knew my husband would know they were lying because it was too obvious.
I just said, I am not doing in-person visits right now period, and I'm always fine with a zoom or whatever.
It's not the first time they've gone through a nutty phase and had limited interaction with our son, so this situation is bringing up a lot of anger and resentment on all sides.
Welllllllllllllllllllll, they do keep saying we don't think many people will show up.

Yes, Texas is so spread out all counties aren't effected equally. My father is tracking our county's stats and we average 2.5 cases per 1000 people.
We have had no new deaths in 12 days.
2.51% of our active cases are hospitalized.
Dallas on the other hand is a shit show.

That would be correct. The county I live in is the 8th most populated county in Texas. I wish we were much further down on the list.

The test days and reporting of new cases never line up. Tests take up to two weeks to be reported to the state.
That being said, some days we are reporting as many tests as we did a month ago and the percentage of positive tests is between 4-14% higher than it was a month ago. So similar number of tests reported but 10-17% positive instead of 3-6% positive.
That is absolutely terrible.

Not across ththe board, no. Hospitalizations are up overall, but the rate is only dangerously high in a few areas.
The danger is in younger, asymptomatic people infecting the more vulnerable members of society. While I agree that we shouldn't roll back any reopening measures already taken, we also shouldn't continue to reopen and we must continue to remind people to be vigilant.
For example, mask wearing is only required in 4 or 5 Florida counties (out of 67). Two weeks ago it was only required in 2 counties. In other parts of the state, people simply aren't wearing them. My youngest brother was in Sarasota this past weekend and he said no one was wearing a mask in public. That's not how we beat this.
