Couple X-bolts. Have an old .22LR too. I've gone through quite a few over the years though. But the current three are lifetime and will be passed down
Yes sir. The medallion is 30-06
The other is a Hells Canyon in 6.5 creemoor. My son killed his first deer last thanksgiving with. Pretty proud of the 10 year old. He was cool and dropped in one shot.
I'm conflicted because I hate a 30-06, but I really love a Browning.

30-06 is tried and true. And I have shot two other manufacturers in 30-06 and this kicks less in comparison. Though still a lot more than the 6.5 creedmoor
But the X-bolt is available in so many calibers, including the medall
I've got one in 28 Nosler. Need to get around to shooting that one of these days.
Finally was able to pick up my Henry Big Boy .44 mag. The background check took about 24 hours and there was a guy at the gun counter that would not shut the fuck up. Took it to the range real quick after work and it rips. I need to sight it in better but I just wanted to put some rounds through it. I got some 200 grain “cowboy” loads that are fun with my revolver and you can tear through a 10 pack quick with this thing. No jams or hang ups yet. The only problem is that I need to take it easy because ammo is getting scarce and it’s pretty expensive.
But what about the caribou?
My brother has the Hell’s Canyon in 28 Nosler and it’s an intense piece of equipment. He could stand to learn from your son, he spent about 35 bucks in ammo trying to put a Caribou down lol. He can shoot but not so good when he’s excited. Congrats to your boy on the one shot kill, he’ll remember that for the rest of his life.
They got a Browning BLR Lightweight in .308 at the local Bass Pro and that fucker is nice. I‘be always been a lever action guy, so I think I’m just gonna embrace it.
It’s in the freezer. They are not the most flighty animals and once hit, it’s game over. I hit mine a bit low at 334 and the round tumbled out right under his asshole and left a baseball sized exit wound. I put another one in him and he tipped right over.
The only thing I'll warn you about a BLR is that they are a pain in the ass to clean. So much so that I ended up selling mine. The takedown versions solve this problem.
Good to know, but as much as I want it I’m gonna wait and do some more research on the matter. To be honest I’d really like a 7mm mag, not sure why but I’ve really been impressed by that round. Is it true that Marlin has really fallen off in quality since Remington bought them out?

At the range we always joke (but not really) "Always bet on 7."
Regarding BLR's specifically, the shape of them and weight lead a lot of people to complain about their recoil, just as an fyi. Personally, I don't have an issue with them other than having to clean them by running your cleaning brush or patch from the muzzle into the chamber and then fishing it out. Marlin's are fine if you get a good one. It's just a matter of making sure you've handled it before buying.
I hit him lower than I’d like but it worked out. I’ve been telling myself that if it was a whitetail he might not be in the freezer. It definitely was a learning experience at that range and thank god those Nosler Accubonds are wicked fuckers.
