Rule 3.1: Meritorious Claims & Contentions

Share this:

Advocate

A lawyer shall not bring or defend a proceeding, or assert or controvert an issue therein, unless there is a basis in law and fact for doing so that is not frivolous, which includes a good faith argument for an extension, modification or reversal of existing law. A lawyer for the defendant in a criminal proceeding, or the respondent in a proceeding that could result in incarceration, may nevertheless so defend the proceeding as to require that every element of the case be established.

which of you was arguing that a legit law firm wouldn't take a bullshit case?
See above.
Apparently its legit against the bar rules to do so.
You can force clarification as defense, which might feel like bullshit. But its intent is to prove the case.
You can't prove the case with bullshit.

"He then proceeded to press them on whether Republican legislatures could pick pro-Trump electors in a handful of key states and deliver him the electoral votes he needs to change the math and give him a second term, according to people briefed on the discussion."

Holy shit. Trump actually hired someone who isn't a complete retard.

"Why do we need the marines?"

"Because you need them for amphibious landings"

"Ok, we've got this thing coming up at Normandy. Kind of a big amphibious landing. Should we use them?"

"Nah, don't need them. In fact we're pretty sure the best troops for this landing will be the Canadian military and they don't even have a marine corps"

"Umm. So, what are we going to do? Just keep them around as a separate branch of the military for another 80 years for no fucking reason?"

"Hurr Durr Semper Fi!"

"The Marine Corps is the Navy's police force and as long as I am President that is what it will remain. They have a propaganda machine that is almost equal to Stalin's"

- President Truman

at the end of the day somebody more educated than me would have to explain why the Marines exist as a separate branch instead of a specialized force simply under another branch. Then again I'm just some dummy that doesn't understand why we spend so much money with separate duty uniform camouflage (hey look that's going away slowly but surely).

I'm not sure I would go as far as propaganda given that they are better trained for combat than either the general Navy or Army under which they would be merged in any removal of branch.

But I do remember reading a long time ago about a Marine corps leader (general?) that justified the Marine corps with "America doesn't need a Marine corps, America wants a Marine corps".
