A new study published recently by researchers from Syracuse University shows that a higher minimum wage will reduce infant deaths.

In the study, "Effects of US state preemption laws on infant mortality," Syracuse University professors found that each additional dollar of minimum wage reduces infant deaths by up to 1.8 percent annually in large U.S. cities. The study was published recently by Preventive Medicine.

I don't understand the argument against a 15 dollar minimum wage.
31,000 a year. One person, no longer qualifies for medicaid. Two parents, no more medicaid for the family.
62k income on a dual income household.
Similar gradients occur for section 8, food stamps, etc. Increasing the wage removes people from these roles.
Price of goods are then represented by cost of workers instead of hiding cost of goods in medicaid/food stamp, section 8.
A 7.25 wage + medicaid + section 8 + food stamps simply artificially subsidizes products and services to use cheap labor and then hides the cost of those products on tax sheets that make it impossible to determine the actual cost of the products.
An increased min wage is a capitalist solution to social welfare. Change my mind.

The issue is what it does to people who are taking defacto pay cuts. When people here got bumped from $9 to $14 it created a group of people who used to make $5 an hour more than minimum wage now making minimum wage. And then the people who went from $9 to $14 got their hours slashed.
Out of curiosity, what percentage of the American workforce actually works 40 hour weeks with a single employer and makes minimum wage?
$15 an hour for min wage here and small business didn’t die... min wage jobs are still abundant.
