We’re a family of four, kids ages are 10 and 12 and we average about $2000CA a month with about $400-$500 of eating out here and there. This seems high to me but we aren’t eating steak every night or anything like that. But all we can on sale, bulk when possible and so on. Lots of ground turkey, chicken, fish, rice potatoes, fruit and veg. I know we can do better by skipping more meals out but sometimes we don’t have an option of work schedule changes or whatever.

Family of 4 as well and we pay about $800 a month on groceries. We haven't been dinning in, but we use Doordash and Grubhub. I'm guessing we pay about $250 a month doing that.

Two people in household. Groceries this month will come out to about $600. We don't eat out much now so I suppose that's only around $100-150 a month.

I eat steak once a week. Usually ribeye but occasionally sirloin.

I have $800 budgeted but my girlfriend ignores me. I also buy half a cow every year from a neighbour to save on beef, cause I love beef.

You murderer.

I don't buy groceries. I just go day to day. Granted sometimes I'll buy a few ready meals if I wander into town. Buy fuck knows when that will be. I'm eating a ham and mustard cob that cost 1.59 as we speak. I have some salt and vinegar crisps and some pickled cockles too.

I have chicken in black bean, a sausage roll, some French onion soup, a tuna sandwich and a cottage pie.

And some jalapenos.

Groceries are for fools!

$2000 a month, wow! We spend about $150 a week and do a meat run 3-4 times a year which is about an extra $500-$600. Buy whole cuts and butcher myself. Foodsaver vacuum is great for this.

No kids rights? Still much lower than us it seems.

If GF ignores you then round up to $1000 for two? I know you love to live the “Big Oil” lifestyle full of expensive meats, sauces and flats of Lucky so no real surprise. I can’t even remember the last time I bought booze. If I factored in weed then that $2000 grows of course. We put weed into “health and fitness” budget.

This isn’t much different than us either after exchange. I know how much money you make and I’d suggest you pass on bringing kids into this world. Mainly because you’d be a terrible father but also you couldn’t afford it.

About 600/mo for two.
We don't eat out almost ever despite it being one of our favorite things to do.
We eat a lot of the same things you do and we spend extra for things that are local or free range, etc. Like I'm able to buy my eggs and beef from local places. but we don't spend extra on organic because we don't believe in it.
So probably not as cheap as we could go but definitely not over the top and we eat well and we eat healthy.

Ya we don’t spend extr for organic. We have protein powder and some small things like that added in but those aren’t big. Perhaps I’m not spending that much more than others which is good to know. $2000 seems like an awful lots still. A chunk of That’ll be going into retirement once the offsprings leave.

We might eat out once a month at this point. I'm avoiding restaurants like the plague and any eating out is like brunch on a patio or something. And we really only eat out for things that are difficult or we can't make. Think like sushi.
Usually it's about a 100 bucks for the two of us. Mostly the damn cocktails lol.

I used to try to eat out at cheaper places but over time I really resented the fact that I was paying a hundred bucks for a meal that was often exquisite and maybe I can't make...and a cheaper place is still going to get 60 or 70 bucks from me and feed me food that I can make in 30 minutes at home.

We could definitely be cheaper. But cooking a fine meal really upsells something basic like watching a movie where the whole evening feels like a process. If I spent less on food I might not be as healthy and I might not enjoy it as much. I might save money but I also would probably spend more money on something else to enjoy a date night process.

Probably the most expensive meals are the ones where I get a wild hair and iron chef style decide to choose an ingredient that I'm not used to cooking or as little fancier. so we're eating pretty basic stuff all the time and then suddenly I'll splurge and pick up some scallops and swordfish. That meal easily be 40 bucks and significantly bump the weekly budget up. And I do that at least weekly. So I'm sure I could easily shave off $100 to $150 a month If I got excited about netflix and a microwave pizza

probably 1000ish for two

I buy local when possible(more expensive but fresher and healthier)

I don't hold back on buying expensive meat or ingredients

Barely eat out nowadays because no indoor dining here, and even wearing a mask for pick up pisses us off due to the hypocrisy of it all

Used to enjoy eating out 4-8 times a month

It's me and my 2 kids splitting time between their mom's house and mine. I spend about $500/mo. between groceries and takeout. Their mom about the same. It's inflated due to them eating breakfast and lunch at home instead of school due to homeschooling.

Remember when you thanked me profusely for sending you that $60 ($75 CAD) because "your kids would really appreciate the money"?

My mum has cancer and is living with us so it’s for three. I’d say 1,000-1,300 realistically right now. She always buys da fancy shit.

How do you cool your steaks? I hope the answer is “boiled.”
