Well, I just got the fireplace cleaned out and ready to go again for tonight. Chopped up some wood yesterday that was wet or covered in snow, but I dried it by the fireplace last night.

3 days no power so far, but we’re ready to go for another night of this ?. It’s not quite as cold today. And so far we’ve been eating well. My son thinks this has been the coolest thing ever hah, just a big adventure for him.
I remember when I was a young child we had blackouts, we broke out the candles and my Dad told us stories by candlelight. it was cool as fuck!

Our water pressure has gone to shit though. Probably because every fucking house is running to keep their lines from freezing up

Thanks, bud. So far so good.

the concerning thing now is that water pressure has been dropping all day and our faucets are down to a trickle now. And the city is starting to issue boil water notices, apparently people have been getting the shits from the water

Same thing happening here. Luckily we still have water and do not have boil noticed yet.

I've never known anyone with a Craftsman saw before. My Stihl is really old. I need to get a back up. I have an electric furnace and a gas heater, but wood was my primary heat source for many years. I got tired of all the work it takes to heat with wood so I stopped about 5 years ago. Last weekend I had to take down a tree that was too close to the house. I have been using that wood when the temp dips down around 0. It has been nice to have wood heat again. I miss it, but I don't think I miss it enough to go back to using it as my primary heat.

The notice for our part of town hasn’t been issued yet, but since it’s happening in other parts, I don’t want to gamble with it. Boiling water will heat the house lol.

Just filled up every water bottle I had since pressure was dropping, but now I feel like I should dump and start over. Have some 5 gallon buckets filled for the toilets if we need them.

can always melt and boil some of this snow!

Fill a bathtub for the toilets. Take water from the buckets, boil, and put into another bucket and then you have a store of potable water.

It's all they had. I plan to keep it as my beater saw and get a nicer one.
