My need for Spanish interaction has long exceeded my need to speak with the coonasses I grew up with. We're next door to Mexico dudes.

As someone who learned the kind of French that one learns out of grammar books. The only French worse than what they speak in Quebec is the nonsense they spoke when we were in Paris. I'm reminded of how vastly different the dialects are when Brits pretend they speak the same language as anglophones in North America. It's like, sure a 120lbs pitbull and a pug are both "dogs", but they're not really the same thing.
