I'm still perplexed at the timing of the withdrawal.

Sure it was in the post once we pulled out but we could have given them another winter to prepare.

Signed a few more treaties to make us feel us better etc.

Wouldn't matter. The exact same thing would happen whenever whatever date you leave is up.

It may have allowed the women folk a chance to seek asylum.

It would have been a real deadline.

Maybe it would just make me feel better.

I know it's a lost cause but we've really left them hanging.

Asylum shouldn't be the answer imo. They are giving up thier land to the Taliban. 20 years for fuck all.

I'm not heartless, I sympathise with the average good ole Afghani. But should the west occupy that dump forever to prevent uprising?

I just feel we ran away so quickly we lost any honour. Biden has made the biggest fuck up in his life.

I can still remember watching CNN when we all were first going over there and one of the hosts pointing out how much their Afghanistan plan reminded him of Vietnam, but you know, "We've learned out lessons about guerrilla warfare."

It's a ploy. He will let the world see the madness when left to its own devices then go back to save the day.
