Case to be made for Timothy McVeigh being a political genius in 3, 2, 1…
McVeigh was actually an interesting character. I read the book "American Terrorist" which he sat for dozens of hours of interviews for, and which was the only project about the bombing that he contributed to.

He was not a political genius.

Book is highly recommended, though. One of the most interesting true crimes, in my lifetime at least.

Who, among the dirty cave dwellers?
Hardly a "master of international affairs". That's like calling Timothy McVeigh a political genius.
You're aware that Time Magazine almost named him Man of the Year in 2001 because he is one of few figures in history who permanently changed the world, right?

"If I was doing something I was completely unqualified to do, and could never be in a position to actually do, here's exactly how I would do it."

- Jocko, basically.

Yes, and Time magazine's annual sales spike cover story doesn't make anyone "master of international affairs". I guarantee their story doesn't praise him as such. He simply did something no torious that caused a country to annihilate his dirty band of rats. 'master of international affairs", LOL

Who's been better at altering the direction of the world in the last 20 years? You don't have to like someone to acknowledge their impact.

Osama had a massive impact on the first quarter of the 21st Century.

If he's a "master of international affairs", then by that metric, couldn't we also call Eric Harris a "master of educational policy"? After all, nobody has had more impact on the school experience for American children in the 21st Century than he has.

I wouldn't but if you want to make the case I suppose that's your prerogative.

Well, he did accurately predict a lot of the changes in American educational life that his actions produced. And nobody had more of an impact on the American high school experience.

Or maybe he was just a violent psychopath whose thought process didn't really extend much beyond how he could cause the most violence, death and trauma possible while gaining himself the maximum amount of notoriety in the process.

"Hitler appeared on the cover of TIME on multiple occasions — most famously perhaps on Jan. 2, 1939, when he was named Man of the Year. That choice abided by the dictum of TIME founder Henry Luce, who decreed that the Man of the Year — now Person of the Year — was not an honor but instead should be a distinction applied to the newsmaker who most influenced world events for better or worse. In case that second criterion was lost on readers, the issue that named Hitler dispensed with the portrait treatment that cover subjects typically got.

Instead he was depicted as a tiny figure with his back to the viewer, playing a massive organ with his murdered victims spinning on a St. Catherine’s wheel. Underneath the stark, black-and-white illustration was the caption, “From the unholy organist, a hymn of hate.”"

Stalin was Time's Man of the Year twice.
