For the record, conservative and liberal are relative terms anyways. There exists many "soft on crime" Republicans, just as there exists "tough on crime" democrats.

This is true and also why problems related to bail are often bipartisan failings at the legislative level. It was our 'lefty' state government who had to fix the bail laws after the car massacre and several other horrible incidents and acknowledge that things had gotten far too soft.

Treating serial violent offenders like misunderstood victims who just need a hug is probably what I hate most about what we would call liberals too.
