I agree with most of that. People are an investment and it's SOOOO much easier to pay people what they are worth rather than deal with turnover and the bottom-of-the-barrell bullshit.

But assuming business owners will do the right thing is a bit foolish. They are driven by greed and the Art of More.

I don't know what the answer is, but forcing higher wages on owners isn't the answer. Small businesses get squeezed out and while large corporations might see their direct labor costs increase, the multiplier that dictates profit margin doesn't move.

How about a nation-wide profit sharing plan? ? Wait - Is that Socialism?

*revolutions on @Hauler and the wealthy class*

No they are not inflationary yet

Probably right, with "yet" being the key word.

Most of the inflation we are seeing is supply based which was triggered by a labor shortage. While better, the labor shortage is still here...but the additional wages will 100% find their way to price tags.

List of things @Hauler opposes:

- pay raises
- trade unions
- Employer-matched 401Ks
- employee lunch times that exceed 30 minutes
- providing medical and dental insurance
- maternity leave
- vacation time
- sick leave
- any type of PTO

Most of it is price gouging because everyone can just claim “supply chain issues.” ?

Supply/Demand imbalances can certainly feel like price gouging, but it's not the same thing.
No there are legitimate supply and demand imbalances but there’s also a lot of opportunistic price gouging going on. You’re fooling yourself if you think otherwise.

I didn't say there wasn't any at all. Of course there is. People are opportunistic assholes. But with commodities, they go to the highest bidder. They are worth exactly what people will pay. If the supply isn't there, it basically turns into a bidding war and each sale becomes the new market price. That's not really gouging.

Gouging would be selling bottled water for $20 / bottle after a catastrophe where people are in dire straits.

It must be exhausting always simping for big corporate

FYI - lumber has a rally going right now that mirrors weekly increases that we saw during last year's insanity.

Fucking price-gouging Canadians.

Again. False.

I hate big corporations and illegal monopolies that our gov't has allowed to devour this country, but I'm also a realist and accept how things are.

I’m a commie now and radical

you are a big corp apologist

We’re not even really arguing, I’m just a passionate advocate for change today, usually I’m more resigned to our dystopian reality like @Hauler

Change is only good if it works.

Our system is broke. Infinitesimal vertical growth is the expected norm with big corporations. We have people with so much money they are building phallic-inspired rockets so they can go to space.

You don't fix that by raising the minimum wage to $15. Or $20. Or $40.
