What an epic disaster. Worst POTUS in my lifetime, and that includes Nixon.

He didn't try to invalidate the will of the voters and the country.
Trump did exactly what I thought he would.
As though "If I win it was because I'm so beloved, if I lose they cheated!" years and years prior wasn't enough of a tipoff.

As has been pointed into previously he isn't the first person to try to invalidate the will of the voters. Nothing about him was particularly unique outside of his public persona.

Stirring the shit until your brainless robots light a courthouse on fire seems fairly analogous. Taking over 6 blocks of a major Americna city also seem substantial in terms of "assaults on democracy".
I'm asking if any other modern era POTUS has been so unforgivabley irresponsible.

People are also forgetting that there's a fairly high possibility a lot of January 6th was enacted by the government itself.

And, no. Trump pushed well beyond any previous POTUS in trying to invalidate wrong votes. He did it all. They cheated, they cheated, they cheated. He or his people planned for the 6th. They had a good idea what might happen, and the frantic texts from even his own family begging him to do something went unheeded. His use of power as POTUS finally ran up against something he didn't care to stop. He chose to do nothing, and history will be as contemptuous of him as me.

I was actually off that day from work and watched the whole thing unfold live on CNN. It was very obvious that this wasn't the toppling of government from the word go. Knowing that going in and knowing that was the outcome informs my attitude towards the whole incident.
At the time it seemed that way, I recall the well-hung chads. But I recall reading about how the EC worked and thought it was a close enough thing that I accepted it, though it seemed queer.
It basically came to and end because Gore didn't want to end up looking the way Trump currently does.
Except Gore actually had a case that he won the election.
Which makes a bit of a difference, don't you think?
