Female friend of mine had an accident and broke her nose, her surgery is scheduled tomorrow but she needed to do a pcr test yesterday evening. If she is positive, no surgery, and they need to break her nose again later for another surgery.

Problem is, her husband has the bug right now. Her normal tests were negative but we will see.

I'm all about it.
People are fucking disgusting.
I haven't even had so much as a case of the sniffles since this all started.
Masks are my friends.

People have the creepy crawlies all over em and they're out there, touching everything and then touching other things. Never washing their hands.

Gross
To be honest I don't really mind them in the cold and I hadn't been sick for about 2 years but that could also be because of all the cleaning and social distancing everyone was doing. Wearing them in the summer fucking sucks though. I do feel bad for kids in school wearing them all day and not seeing expressions from the other kids. If I was a parent I'm sure I'd feel even worse but it is what it is. Biggest problem I have is the being forced part that's all...

There is continued data showing lack of effect with these antibodies against omicron. I have not reviewed all of it. If something doesn't work well but does have risk, the emergency authorization should be pulled.
This shouldn't be controversial except the particular treatment has again just become politicized like many others.

We have at least two primary outpatient antivirals currently available that do have efficacy against omicron and should be where we are shifting resources instead of barely effective. Very expensive, very difficult to administer and access/distribute treatments like the above should not be approved unless someone has data showing efficacy.

Fair enough. I thought you had a higher opinion of them previously.

Legit question here. If the problem with the antibodies is that they're weaker against Omarion, well aren't the vaccines weaker with this variant as well?

Yes. Hence the booster

But both two or three shots dramatically lowered hospitalization or death.

Two shots barely protects against primary infection after a few months. But you still go in the hospital or die less.
They are making an omicron specific vaccine but it'll be available after the USA has peaked with omicron so lol whatevs GG Pfizer.
