Spider-Man: Homecoming - 5/10

I'm probably being generous with this, and every point it gets is for Michael Keaton's performance. Hot Aunt May is weird, Spider-Man being a high schooler is weird, Spider-Man not having Spidey Sense is weird, having an awkwardly diverse cast is weird, No Uncle Ben is weird. I'm always willing to give movies a ton of comic leeway because they need to be entertaining to the masses, but this wasn't even that.

Spider-Man: Far From Home - 7/10

Really, fun movie with lots of comedic bits. The drone fighting scene at the bridge was way, way, way longer than it ever should have been.
Why is it weird Spider-Man is in highschool?

That's actually in death to 2021.

Our own Rambo John J @Sound System is referenced and portrayed by Tracey Ullman.

Very gender fluid and it works.
Oh, that's right. I got it, and don't look up confused. I watched them close together, and the themes felt somewhat similar. Death to 2021 was way funnier though.

They are definitely similar in tone.

Adam McKay and Brooker have the same sense irony and despair.

I like them both.

Vice by Adam McKay is just awesome. As is the big short.

I liked it too, but it wasn't really a movie. It was more like a 1st episode of a show. And how long we gonna have to wait for part 2?
Felt like it didn't even start yet.

Big Short was good, Vice was okay. McKay should go back to making funny movies instead of this woke nonsense.

Cop Land 7.38/10

Good flick. I think I missed my calling as a cokehead cop turned good.

The Bourne Ultimatum.
This movie has problems. A big one for me was all the fucking shakey cam. The action scenes were claustrophobic tight shots, with the frame rattling all over.
Gave me motion sickness.

Another problem is the melodrama. A pointless one line reference to a relationship with a coworker is what motivates her to help him and ruin her own life doing so.
Lots of "rogue intelligence agency leader is rogue". Jason Bourne is the greatest ever, so locate him. He's a chameleon, he can levitate, he can bilocate. There's nothing that can stop this highly trained superman.

"Oh look, there he is. Looking at us."

It takes the tropes of these movies and pumps them up to bursting.

The Bourne series definitely became more ridiculous as time went by.

But Cruise set the bar so low? How could it be worse?
It probably isn't worse.

If Cruise isn't buzzin the tower in a jet or dropping the hammer in a stock car he can go fuck himself. I will also make an allowance for dancing around a pool table while singing Werewolves of London and being a bald a-hole telling people to fuck their own faces.

Boiling Point. 8.6/10

Technically its a 10. Its all in one take. And unlike Birdman this has no Edits in it. The rehearsals of the actors and crew. Wow. The choreography is like the best ballet or musical you’ve ever seen.

The story is dramatic from the start. You’re in this tight claustrophobic workspace almost from the start. It starts off a stressful watch and then gets ratcheted up.

The acting is amazing. Steven Graham again. He’s fast becoming a national treasure. Tbh I cant see why he couldn’t ace Bond. The whole cast though. So many sub plots and deep stuff you’d like to explore further but the action and camera whips you away for the next act. And they are all mini acts. It starts off like a play but for me becomes more cinematic as it developed.

Great stuff. Highly recommend.

That's what makes John Wick so good. Great training instead of camera cuts to hide useless actors who don't know how to fight or use firearms.
