If companies are going to be sued because of their products, start with lining up those vile cunts who knowingly created millions of pharmaceutical heroin addicts for profit.

So smaller than the average british penis and it's legal?

the american penis is statistically smaller than the English penis,

not by a lot but enough to make your mum regret her choices.

How's that?
He's right and it's specific to the claims made by the families.
the AR-15 is not an assault rifle, and the aesthetic similarity is real - the substantive difference is that an assault rifle is capable of select-fire.

so an AR-15 is not an assault rifle, and it is substantively different from the M-16.

it only looks the same, the lawsuit was that Remington marketed it to make it seem like an assault rifle. The lawsuit was farcical, but they had Bloomberg money pushing it along.

Trying to undermine the entire statement and call somebody a propagandist because they mismatched two very similar terms of assault rifle and assault weapon, while otherwise being wholly correct, and specifically referencing a point that is made by the families lawsuit is propaganda itself.

Let's ignore one single verbiage typo and go to the meat and potatoes of what he just said....

which is substantially similar to the standard issue M16 military service rifle used by the U.S. Army and other nations’ armed forces, but fires only in semiautomatic mode."
That's all true. And no they don't just look the same. My own AR-15 is built fully inside with M16 parts short of an auto sear. The guns use interchangeable parts, all the way down to their firing mechanism. They fire the same ammunition. Stating that they are substantially similar but one fires only semi-automatic mode is clear and accurate.

I think it's propaganda to dismiss the entire statement because of technical minutia. It is similar to trying to derail an entire conversation because somebody accidentally said silencer instead of suppressor or clips instead of magazines.

it's aesthetically similar, not substantively. The substantive difference is the one that separates an assault rifle (assault weapon was a made up term, and it expired with the AWB) from any auto-loading rifle in existence.

they do not share a firing mechanism, the trigger group is not interchangeable.

how many other rifles share ammunition with the M-16?

I'll let you just keep arguing until you're blue in the face as if I haven't built these guns. The minutial differences between the trigger groups is pedantic except for the ability for auto fire, what's the author clearly states is primary the difference between the two weapons. And it is.

For anybody who's not in a technical know-how and wondering how similar are these parts. Is @Splinty and the article guy just making things up?

Feel free to scroll the AR-15.com guide on how to identify the difference between the two because of how easy it is to mix them up...

The AR-15 and M16 parts are very similar, and unless you know what you're looking for, would most likely not notice. Many of the AR-15 parts have been made by modifying the plentiful M16 parts. Colt has made a number of modifications over the years to their AR-15 lower receivers to minimize the possibility of "misplaced" M16 parts, but on most non-Colt rifles, M16 parts will fit in place of the semi-auto parts. Let's look at these in detail:
They don't just look the same. When placed in the semi-automatic mode both weapons work in identical fashion. That's the point of the author's post, the lawsuit, and it's true.
