Hope all is wellI have coworkers in Ukraine- some of them disappeared without communicating- were not in yesterday and no one was sure if they were ok. We heard one was planning to try to move west, but that was all we got. He may be fighting now because of the under 60 thing. Been hoping they're all ok. Everyone is worried.
After watching this, I believe Ukraine might win.@Splinty Q @Qat @kneeblock I bet you guys tree fiddy that Putin splits Ukraine into east and west based on the Dnieper then divides Kiev in half and builds a wall.
Very sorry to hear. Hoping they can get to safety.I have coworkers in Ukraine- some of them disappeared without communicating- were not in yesterday and no one was sure if they were ok. Once we cut them off from IKEA meatballs game over...Olive oil btw...Healthy oilSeems to me the West does have some serious levers of soft power that aren't being used.
The populace of Russia need to be pissed off. Close down their Netflix with a message saying due the Aggression and war crimes of Putin Netflix is cancelled in Russia. The Swyft banking system needs to be shut off for them. That will be a major pain for Russians and will make them draw out loads of paper money. No planes from Russia allowed to land in the west. All sport completely shut off for them. Google and Facebook to shut them down with a message a la Netflix. No Russian ship allowed to dock in the west. All Russian nationals bank accounts frozen. Harsh for the ordinary Russian but it forces them to return home and be pissed off with Putin
Completely ostracise them.
To think that POS slept with a Chinese spy and sits on the House Intelligence Committee...Rep. Eric Swalwell suggests “kicking every Russian student” out of U.S. universities
A Bay Area Representative suggested in a CNN interview that the country should kick “every Russian student out” of universities in retaliation against Russian President Vladamir Putin.www.kron4.com
It also occurs to me that offing president's of other nations isn't a great PR move even if you're the scary Ruskies.Zelensky will likely survive no matter what happens. The 'stay in the capital' thing is for morale, they'll get him out to Lviv if the walls close in.
Can't rule out that he gets got before they can get him out but not likely.
They already are being completely ostracized. All sanctions like that would do is cause the citizens who are currently pissed with the government to side with itSeems to me the West does have some serious levers of soft power that aren't being used.

I'll ignore for a second that you're advocating for a campaign of discrimination that the average Russian would never recover from. Taking away those things leaves a vacuum that would be filled by Russian propaganda. Sanctions never work to do anything other than hurt the public.I wouldn't be so sure. This is a different generation of Russian. They've seen the good life. From The Olympics to the world cup to winning the Eurovision. They are culturally more western than ever. We turn off the tap and they be irked. They don't want to be ostracised and cut off. And they won't blame us they will blame Putin.
I agree with you, but it's also gonna be really tough for them to protest. Over last 10 years they cracked down HARD on opposition and free speech. You can get arrested and beated for wearing your hat backwards, it's insane. And they have alot of cops...it's a damn shame what's happening there.I wouldn't be so sure. Also turning off YouTube will essentially cut off regular people from unbiased information sources....they won't even be able to watch what's going on.
They already cracked down on telegram app that was uses in Belarus to organize protests....
Absolutely terrible...Yeah it's grim. But it's grimmer for normal folk in Ukraine.
