This isn't like boycotting an international competition. This is firing someone because of where they were born. The idea is completely fucked.
He's considering it. And to me it stands as a business decision. If this blows up, it could cost him to keep them.
Everybody's making those calculations right now.

I keep thinking, what happens if these countries just say fuck it...Russia you can have the frozen conflict zones. We agree...new borders, also lol the now undisputed country that is overwhelmingly fearful of you and anti Russian government is in the EU and NATO. It is the ongoing conflicts that are part of Russias strategy in preventing memberships. What if they just give them up?

So can an employer openly fire all Mexicans until they end cartel violence or middle eastern employees until their government gets their shit together?
It's an interesting question. I would guess they have to sponsor visas for those Russian fighters.
The US government identifies visas in health care that are difficult for us to do and as such we refuse to sponsor Iranians in some places I've worked. An American or resident of Iranian ethnicity would not be the same.

I'm just shooting from the hip. For all I know it's completely illegal and the number one Latino MMA organization hates Russian people and just found their chance lol. But also I think that when you start talking about granting access to your country for people that have no inherent right to it, we can come up with a dozen different situations where we all kind of think that's okay.
I do wonder what people think about banning Russian individuals due to the Russian governments pariah status will also being mad that so many countries ban israelis.

That's some piss poor logic attempt on your part. Discriminating against someone for something they don't have control over is a shitty thing to do.

How much different is it to boycott Russian products, and impose sanctions that are always mostly going to harm the people?

We're talking about some Russian fighters who may have to fight somewhere else.

He admits it's unfair, but people are disassociating themselves from Putin's actions however they can.

The whole thing is shameful

You're barking up the wrong tree. I'm not keen on sanctions either for the exact reason you're stating. These actions only hurt the people who have nothing to do with what's going on.

If I remember right, I think the thing that was a sticking point for Iranians and north Koreans and some others was that in our large facility? We had a number of high-tech research projects going on. And I think the government Makes exceptions on residency for certain things like that. Like if we sponsored in Iranian doctor they wouldn't be allowed to be involved in some of the granted projects and would that they couldn't do the job.
Obviously an MMA organization probably doesn't have the same argument and I'm sitting around waiting to see what happens. These guys making public statements that might be in violation of employment rights practices

Thusly, in the grand scheme, a few fighters potentially having to get paid by another promotion really doesn't ring too harshly.

If professional fight orgs were plentiful you might have an argument, but that's not the case. As I said earlier, discriminating against someone based on something they have no control over is a shitty thing to do.
