Just to make sure I'm clear on this, he's basically framing anybody that is opposed to him as being mentally Western in hopes of self-enrichment with things like condos in Miami. Those against him are thus anti-Russian and need to be purged. Anybody left is true Russian. And such a purge is good for Russian society.

Do I have that correct?
I think so.

Basically a Russian version of 'coastal elites' and his way of telling a certain class of oligarch that if they try to take him out, he'll feed them to the poors.

This is sort of a mix between fascist and communist rhetoric, which is weird but also makes sense in the Russian context.

That’s more Stalin style

great purge 2.0
Yes and no.

But it's interesting that old Uncle Joe - a Georgian - had to modify Bolshevik rhetoric and embrace Russian nationalism during one war, while Putin has to modify his Russian nationalist rhetoric to make it more Bolshy during another.

That's classic fascism creating an other to rally against to deflect from the real issue - which is the war isn't going to plan, because the guys who wrote it were so scared to tell Putin the truth that it was built on a foundation of lies.

All right, that makes a lot more sense. I kept thinking that but wasn't sure if I was understanding who the threat was against.

Fascism is different country to country because it is opportunistic and draws inspiration from a national myth of the past. It makes sense for Russian fascism to draw inspiration from their communist past.
