you love calling everything a "strawman"

you were indignant regarding Russia's disingenuous motives, without a lick of self-awareness as to how we used fake bio-weapon capability as a motivation for annexing Iraq in our own self-interest.

give it a name.
It's different because Russia is the bad guys.

it's what you did, or at least the superficial appearance of it...are you saying it was something else?

what was the deeper meaning in your comment about "it was never about what Russia said it was about"?

Russia trying to stop the EU membership is the clearest signal of Russia's disingenuous claims.
La Paix @Nuk Soo Kow
The reason it highlights Russias disingenuous claims is that EU membership in no way represents an offensive military threat to Russia's sovereign state. The EU doesn't preclude Ukraine from making any sort of agreements to keep or let go. Any portions of the East. EU membership doesn't stop really anything that Russia claims is the reason that they are invading Ukraine.
And yet somehow Russia is demanding no EU membership.
It's obvious because Ukraine membership in the EU represents a further tilting to the west economically and socially and moves them out of Russia's ability to control and sphere of influence.
That's fine and dandy in a realpolitik scheme.
But it doesn't remove the clear highlighting that Russia is bombing Ukraine for something other than the claims of NATO and Russian genocide.

You've put so many words in my mouth that you don't know what you're talking about and neither do I.
Maybe if you simply responded to me instead of bringing up things that I never said and don't think we would have a conversation.

EU does have a mutual defense clause as far as I'm aware.

Correct.
Oh no! Russia won't be able to attack Ukraine easily in the future if they join the EU...

So all of a sudden this isn't about Russia's sovereign security from NATO and our missile shield that could be offensive, or Russian genocide in the east, but Russia's requirement that everybody around them be pliable enough that Russia can invade anytime.

EU countries represent massive arm sales to Russia as well as massive trade. There's simply no threat to Russia from Ukraine joining the EU. Only a threat to Russia's geopolitical aims.

Settle down, Skippy.

I'm not making a value judgment, I'm pointing out that if they're concerned about Ukraine being armed by NATO it's not exactly a long leap to think that they might not want EU running weapons in either particularly after what's happened over the last few weeks with Poland. Based on what we've seen over the last 3 weeks trying to sell "The Ruskies are planning to take over Europe!" is a much farther reach.

Speaking of. Defend this, bruv.

'Also at the request of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine I decided to confer the title of Hero of Ukraine upon:

Colonel Baranyuk Volodymyr Anatoliyovych, Commander of the 36th Separate Marine Brigade.

And Major Prokopenko Denys Hennadiyovych, Commander of a separate detachment of special purpose "Azov". For courage, for effective actions to repel enemy attacks, for the defense of the hero city of Mariupol.'

Why deflect, bruv?

Do you think it is a good thing that Nazi leaders are awarded the title Hero of Ukraine? Is this something you would consider normal in a country that, according to you, has no more of a Nazi problem than anywhere else?

When do you anticipate Joe Biden will confer the Presidential Medal of Freedom on David Duke?

Eastern Europe is definitely more anti-Semitic than the average, but it’s not as bad as some places…
