Idk what Zelensky is supposed to do about it now, if there's anything at all to do. Azov might end up losing Mariupol anyway, but Zelensky can't afford to disown them atm.

No, they're not. Mariupol is already lost.
What is needed to 'defeat' Russia is to try and work out the best peace deal possible before it destroys even more of the county, something that Azov (only a small part of the extremist puzzle) will actively try to undermine.

Russia isn't trying to work out anything realistic at the negotiating table right now.
What's needed is to keep fighting and doing more damage to the Russian military. Azov is needed for that.
There may come a point where the best course of action isn't more fighting, and you don't want Azov around when that decision has to be made.
Different extremist parties at different times have received different results, and extremist elements also exist within more mainstream nationalist movements.
They are very much a minority, but support for is a lot higher than 2.6%.
