I am repeating your list. Because you spent dozens of pages telling me about how because I think we should have better training and permitting as requirements for many types of guns that it won't work. You constantly reference Mexico and muh dozers.

But when I walk through a list of high gun ownership, low gun crime countries, what I find is that their firearms are highly permitted requiring training and licensing. Just like I keep suggesting we should do and you have suggested we just turn us into Mexico.

I'm going to stop a great majority of gun crime and with that stop a significant portion of aggravated assaults that are converted successfully to murders.
"Stopping violent crime", which ignores that guns allow untrained idiots to convert non-deadly violence to deadly violence at a larger scale and more often, requires solving income inequality primarily as that is the closest metric that results in a direct correlation with reduction in violence overall.

Less than 8% of all justified homicides, aka probably self-defense, are performed by women.

A gun in the house is significantly more likely to be used to kill a woman than it is and her defense.

Rapes fall into the scenario of two primary means. One is date rape in which intoxicated substances are often involved, most likely alcohol, and the presence of a gun would have little to no effect in defense of that intoxicated woman.

The other type of rape is primarily about power and abuse and is most likely to occur unexpectedly by somebody that woman knows and often occurs in the private residence of one of them. In that case, a gun would only be useful if it was already on the person and I would contend that most women do not walk around their home with their gun on their person When the boyfriend unexpectedly rapes them. And as domestic violence stats show, once again, no matter the reasoning, the gun in the home is much more likely to be used by the spouse to kill the woman than it is for her to defend herself.

If that were true other countries which enacted stricter firearms measures would have seen drastic violent crime and suicide reductions. They didn't. Most of those countries are still continuing to enact stricter measures even though they won't address any of the issues. I believe we're getting our 3rd round of new gun laws introduced on Monday in as many years.

Heavily regulated firearms ownership. Permitting and training required. They have an interesting system in which you can get a gun license and have to have it for 5 years before you can apply for a semi-automatic license. You basically have to prove safety and competence for a long period of time before you can go to the next level.

They're also a small country without much population. Perhaps is highlights that in urban centers we should have more interest in shared decision making as a bullet shot in an apartment in New York likely has a lot more threat to others than an accidental discharge in rural Texas.
