.

Heavily regulated firearms ownership. Permitting and training required. They have an interesting system in which you can get a gun license and have to have it for 5 years before you can apply for a semi-automatic license. You basically have to prove safety and competence for a long period of time before you can go to the next level.

They're also a small country without much population. Perhaps is highlights that in urban centers we should have more interest in shared decision making as a bullet shot in an apartment in New York likely has a lot more threat to others than an accidental discharge in rural Texas.
it's easier to answer questions no one is asking than the hard ones that have been asked of you.

It's because Australia is a third-world country, isn't it...
Without looking I would assume that a majority of their rapes are non-consenting date rape type situations related to their drug and drinking culture.

A quick Google trying to verify whatever statistic you're referencing. Suggest that they have a broad definition of sexual assault and in fact it's not rapes but total sexual assaults that are high and may very well be related to their reporting measures where other countries would not report many of them.

Either way, the absence of guns doesn't appear to have any causation on this existing. And adding guns at the mix doesn't show me how it would stop it.

why isn't the solution to this situation "cops should do their jobs"?

They held back a federal swat team ?

You're really interested in talking about those dozers aren't you?
wut?

no, like what's this going to cost?

how many people are you going to imprison?

how are you going to incentivize LE to do the hard part of the job, and not just go after the low-hanging fruit?

how much time have you spent in Mexico?

Costa Rica and Puerto Rico (a US territory) are also "third world"?
i’ve been to mexico 6 times, costa rica twice. never been to PR

first second and third world mean nothing anymore, the cold war is ovah.

mexico is a developing country, USA is developed.

Don't cartels hang people from overpasses in Mexico, and make busloads of students disappear?
Idk about developing.

Same way every other country managed to do it. Same way we managed to take automatic weapons behind the NFA curtain. Same way CHL got implemented and enforced. Universal background checks already have a structure and take nothing more than requiring it.

These are really all just red herrings to justify doing nothing. It's all already been done elsewhere and the pieces of it are already here just purposely poorly implemented for all of the reasons you post in this thread.

still not going to put a number on cost?

everyone is just going to go along and the police won't target certain socio-economic classes with selective enforcement?

LoL - you've never been poor, have you?

Because I don't know and I don't care. We can afford it. Others with less money can afford it. Again. It's just a red herring. How much is mental health going to cost? Who knows. I don't care. We should do it. We can do it.

This is just a slippery slope argumeny to justifying no laws and doing nothing. You could use the same argument for literally anything.

But let's just run with what you've opened. Poor people, which includes mostly minorities, suffer the results of aggravated assaults being converted to successful homicides via guns more than anyone else. The ubiquitous presence of those guns illegally in those communities, mostly through stolen guns in straw purchases, results in aggressive policing and a cycle of bad relationship with community and police.
Measures that reduce straw purchases and stolen guns directly improve this situation. More guns do not.
