By the way, I'm only vaguely aware of the whole pizza gate thing. I would look into it, but I don't want to get on some watch list, or be automatically registered with the Republican party.

That person is referencing an actual book available in school libraries. When the book in question is banned there's pushback by the progressive left as being anti-gay or anti-trans.
How about this wording. Republicans have a less favorable view of teachers than democrats have

My objection is that she put her argument in the crassest possible terms.
These people don't have to be so vile and obnoxious to get across a point.
Somewhere, and I can't quite pinpoint it, politicians abandoned speaking with intelligence and decorum.
It's a mystery as to who might have made this an acceptable way for leaders to speak and behave.
How else would one explain it? You do need to keep in mind that when parents have complained about such issues they've been told that "Parents have no say in what their kids learn" they were also labeled as "domestic terrorists". We're well past the point of decorum.
The Clinton affair seems like the correct answer. He certainly wasn't as crass as Trump, but that was very much when the public just resigned themselves to politicians lying about anything and everything.
To the GOP's credit, they have done an amazing job of selling a problem that really isn't one for decades. People may not remember but George W Bush won against Gore by mainly running on the anti gay marriage thing. I legit knew people back then that were terrified of gay marriage and that was the only reason they voted Republican.
