I'm not cynical enough to say he didn't mean any of it, but the whole thing was very much about him. If you objectively watch his speech it's a series of emotional appeals, it's not a revelation that what happened was awful, and then he wrapped it all up without a single policy suggestion. Well, he did tell the GOP to just vote for whatever the DNC proposes, but that's somewhat open ended with what that may or may not mean.
