The case being made is that the mob was there to stop Pence from confirming the count and thus stopping Biden from becoming president.

That's also why in the days before January 6th the media was running stories, like the one I linked, explaining how stupid of an idea it was that the transfer was going to be stopped by Pence.
No, they wanted to stop the process of the election being certified. They wanted to kill Pence. Lol

Trump had tried numerous things but that wasn’t the only thing he had cooking to stop the Congressional Count (which is required). Multiple republicans had filed a law suit on Dec 27 with the US district court to give Pence the authority to reject electoral votes without recourse from congress. It was denied. Then they appealed it to the circuit court. It was denied on Jan 2. Then they filed a motion to the Supreme Court to stay (stop) Pence from declaring the President (which happens at the end of the session) until the judgement from their case could be reviewed. It was still on their desk on Jan 7th. The judge waited, Pence declared the winner and then the judge denied the motion as being moot.

Also, republicans objected to about 5 states’ electoral votes (tried to get them thrown out). They only got to vote on two, Pennsylvania and Arizona. They didn’t succeed and those two states wouldn’t have swayed the result. However, if they had voted and won Pennsylvania and Ohio, it could have kept Biden out of office because he wouldn’t have had the required 270 electoral votes.

So they were trying everything.

Yeah, those have been sold as being one in the same since January 7.

Okay. So in less than 3 steps explain what the idiots breaking into the capital have to do with any of that.

Do you believe the election was on the level?

So you really think Pence was in danger?

So, does anyone here think that if Pence and a bunch of congresspeople had been killed that Trump would have stayed president?

I didn't say it was.

Did you watch January 6th live?
Then what is that line of questioning setting up?

Not in its entirety no.

Since Jan 6 I’ve read everything from “just a tour gone wild” to “all of congress was gonna get lunched”. These hearings have been great at providing real footage from body and security cams and sworn testimony mainly from former trumpers which is helping unmuddy some the waters. To those claiming it was no biggie or non violent I just gotta shake my head and disregard. Same with those believing Trump actually won the election too.

How does the budget for this hearing/investigation compare to that given for 9-11?
Or have they yet to release how much has been spent during this public trial?

I know the website sounds like it would have some bias to it based upon name alone

Felt it was fitting for this thread because it was full of hypotheticals
Then why attempt to pass of a hypothetical scenario as fact via fake news article?

People have been claiming that the plan was to kill Pence and other congresspeople in order to keep Trump in power since January 7. I think a lot of people don't realize how utter insane that line of reasoning is because they don't bother to take 2 seconds to stop and think about it.

I don't disagree, but I'm not quite sure what this has to do with anything, tbh.

No idea if he will
I don't think it is completely off base to think that some are considering replacing him at some time due to mental health/capacity
I thought that is what they wanted?

I thought they wanted someone they could control and manipulate.

They were trying to stop the electoral Count process. And they did. I think Trump was hoping it would stall it long enough to get a ruling from the judge to stay the process and continue with the bid to get a ruling for Pence to be able to throw out votes.
I don’t think it was going to keep Trump in office. But who the hell knows what he was thinking. Maybe another election if Biden didn’t get enough electoral votes. But, no, he would not have remained in office.

I only responded to this because filthy said Biden would take office even if Congress didn’t count and certify the electoral votes, which I believe to be false. So I presented my case.

As level as it ever is.

Yes. An informant testified that they would have killed him if they had found him.

Did you know that Pence had gotten phone calls threatening that he would be hung if he didn’t comply with Trump? Did you know the rioters brought a fake gallows to the capitol that day? Weird, huh?

Speaking of the antics that can go on to sabotage the electoral count and certification, if you’re ever bored go read about the one Biden presided over when Trump won and the crazy shit the Dems pulled.

It’s good stuff. Lol
