That & potassium salt are all I use.
Most of it is free as people just toss lamps & I crush them.

Grilled Mexican squash, and my first try at tornado potatoes. The potatoes tasted great, but were a total abortion of a knife job.

I butterflied and marinated some chicken breasts then tossed them on the grill.

And we've got dinner frens.

I've needed a new propane grill for a few years now. I have been looking around online doing research and went down a very deep number 1 bullshit rabbit hole and ended up spending far more than I set out to. New grill should be delivered in about 2 weeks and now I'm broke (again).

I asked my mom what she wanted me to cook her for mother's day. She didn't say anything other than ribeye, so I don't know what sides I'm going to go with, but I have the main dish. I dropped by a really good butcher and got this ribeye, and just now started my dry brine on it. It's a $45 steak, at $36/lb (low grade wagu), so I'm hoping she will love it. It's far too large of a steak for her, but she should have leftovers to enjoy. I'm thinking reverse sear on the grill at 225, then do the grilled veggies and sear the fuck out of it.

Man this turned out perfect. Well done.
It certainly did. I was skeptical because I was having a really difficult time dialing in my mother's grill. As we know, each grill has its own personality, hot spots, and so on. I almost threw the steak in the oven because the temps weren't coming down to where I needed them on the grill. I didn't want to fuck up my mom's dinner, and on top of that, I've never paid that much money for a single steak. After the first bite my mom gave me a look and I just knew I knocked it out of the park. When asking her if she had any requests for her dinner all she said was ribeye, so that needed to be the star of the show, and it was.

Lunch: Seared Ahi sandwich with mayo, spinach, provolone, carrots, and onion.

Breakfast was a spinach, ham, egg, & cheese, but I didn't take any pictures. Dinner is going to be a salmon salad. I've posted pictures of that in the past.

Dinner: Wagyu smash burger
PXL_20240518_004123212.jpg

There was a sale on ground Aussie Wagyu, so I decided to try out a couple of burgers this week. This is the first one. It is two 2 oz patties, two slices of American cheese, white onion, spinach, mayo on the bottom, and ketchup on the top. The crust on the patties turned out perfect. For the size of the bun, I could have used more meat if I didn't already have plans for the rest of the package. I'm going to make an 8 oz burger for dinner tomorrow. I'll use the remaining 4 oz with some scrambled eggs, onion, & peppers for breakfast on Sunday.

Breakfast: Scrambled eggs w/ Aussie wagyu ground beef, peppers, onion, & hot sauce.

Lunch: Chicken tikka masala over rice. I used up the last of the broccoli from last week along with the green pepper I had from breakfast. It didn't come out as orange as I planned on. I probably should've added more cream. Oh well, the flavor is spot on.

I made enough of this for lunch for the week.
PXL_20240519_170707648.jpg

Dinner is going to be salmon over a salad which I’ve posted before.

I also made overnight oats for breakfast tomorrow and prepped fruit for smoothies for breakfast for the coming weeks and put that in the freezer. Lastly, I cut up some veggies for salads for dinner throughout the week. #sundaymealprep fin.

The laundry is done, the dishwasher is running, & the kitchen is clean. All in time for the first pitch of the Yankees game.
