I was freezing my ass off on the lake all day, with no cell service. Got home, showered, grabbed some beans & cornbread the wife cooked up and opened X to see Vivek & Elon getting crushed. Was like WTF?! And quickly realized they deserve 100% of the backlash they're getting. America first means America first. Period. Trump's campaign was run on that message and the voters mandate was clear.
If there really is no other option to import hundreds of thousands or millions of Indians then a better solution would be some type of Manhattan type project where US citizens are trained up to fill this gap, which I'm doubting even exists.
A lot of people are pointing out that Vivek and Elon are selling this as "America needs all the geniuses it can get," which no one disputes. But they are saying that means we have to expand the H1B program, and in Vivek's case calling for ending the caps on the number that can be brought from any one country, which means in practice that almost all of them will be Indians. But the people H1B brings over aren't geniuses. They are, at best 110-120 IQ grinds. They aren't going to make world shaking scientific discoveries. They probably aren't going to start world changing companies. They are going to work 100 hours a week for half the pay a comparable American citizen would.
