Rodgers and the Jets might have worked out well

But he blew the achilles before that even had a chance, and last season coming off that injury it would have been a miracle if he was the same player as before...It wasn't meant to be

I love how the Jets always think it has to be the QB. Surely even though the same QBs play great elsewhere, it is the QB.
Even their best QB ever - Joe Namath - sucked.

One of only two QBs in the HOF who chucked more INTs (220) than TDs (173). So 47 more INTs than TDs.

FYI - the other is Kenny Stabler (222 INTs, 194 TDs). 28 more INTs than TDs.

Namath led the league in INTs 4x. He really only had 9 full seasons. So basically half.
"But Hauler! He was a gunslinger before there were gunslingers!"
He led the league in TDs once.

Once.

Joe Namath was Mark Sanchez with a SB ring. Crazy how similar their stat lines are
I've consistenly said he's the most overrated player in the NFL hall of fame. He was a cult of personality, but a very mediocre player.

It's not like the SB he won was some great offensive accomplishment either.
He went 17-28 for 203 yards and an 83.3 rating. No Tds, no ints. It was a very "game manager" type of performance in a game where the final score was 16-7

One of the Jets best QBs of all time was probably Chad Pennington before he blew out his arm and ended up with a water pistol out there.
That shoulder injury was a recurring problem and tanked his career when it looked like he was going to be a legit baller.

Don't compare QBs from different Eras, just don't do it

The hits on the QBs alone make it a totally different game, let alone all the other rules that hinder todays defense

In 1970 Namath threw 5 Tds and 12 Ints...in 5 games. Imagine throwing 12 ints in 5 games these days?

That seems pretty bad until you look at Terry Bradshaw in 1970. 6 TDS 24 interception. In 13 games.

Yikes lol
I don't think anyone would disagree that Bradshaw was a much more dynamic QB than Namath was though.

Can I compare Namath to Ken Anderson?

Namath was 65-77
Anderson was 71-86
You know what - I'll only use the years they played at the same time.
1971 through 1977

Namath is in the HOF.
Ken Anderson doesn't get a sniff. It's fucking criminal.

Using pro football reference HOF monitor, Anderson is an 82.99
That puts him ABOVE other guys already in the HOF.
  • Ken Stabler 82.2
  • Sonny Jurgensen 78.57
  • Bob Griese 73
  • Warren Moon 71.3
  • Joe Namath 70
  • Len Dawson 69.74
  • Troy Aikman 64.28
  • Jim Kelly 59.10

Yep, even in the 80s the rules were more passer friendly than back in Namath's day.
Namath was fucking trash.

He's in the HOF because he played in New York and got hammer drunk while wearing a fur coat and "guaranteed" a win. From that day on it was a media slob fest - up until he got hammer drunk and made a pass at Suzy Kolber on live TV.

In his famous Super Bowl he went 17/28 for 206 yards and exactly 0 TDs. Miraculously he didn't throw an INT - so I'll give him that.
I haven't watched the game, but my guess is Baltimore dropped 3 or 4 them.

Lucky for you guys the Twin 125s are about to start and I still need to get my bets in.
The Anderson vs Namath debate is one of my favorites. I was about to pour me a bourbon and get medieval on your asses with stats.

joe threw more INTs than TDs in 11 out of 13 seasons.
Different ERA I reckon
I didn't watch Joe or that Era

I did watch mid-late 80s and TD totals were much lower and closer to the INT totals

Only thing I know about Joe is some coat or something and predicting a SB win, that is it. Oh ya he was drunk for his Monday night interview.

You really wanna beef with me don't ya lol.
