You know that you can totally be religious without being evil, right?

I'm familiar with the bad things the old testament laid out. I know from our previous conversations, you don't see the negation of those laws from Jesus in the new testament. However I totally do. Most protestant churches I have been to have made similar statements in that regard.

By stating that the original message of spreading love and helping others is evil, you spur me to question that. Why do you think that they're mutually exclusive?

1) Is the god that is worshipped by Catholics the same god who committed the atrocities of the Old Testament?

2) Do you agree with God's decision to send non believers to Hell?

I can't speak for Catholics. I'm not one. However, I am of the opinion that for you or I trying to figure out God is like a virus trying to figure out computer code. So for anyone to try to speak for Him is foolish. Including the whole "you're going to hell" thing.

When someone says that, they are being arrogant, judgemental, and blasphemous in my opinion.

That's a cop out, mate. If your god killed people and if he sends people to hell, then he's evil and so is anyone who worships him.

My God is one of love. It's not a cop out to disagree with what others claim.

I usually find that there is some underlying tragedy with people who are angry at even the thought of God. Is this true for you?

Not in the slightest. If your god did not kill anyone and does not send people to hell and all the other horrible stuff like condemn gays etc, then I have no issue with it.

I am simply saying that most mainstream religions demonstrably have evil in their teachings and that they should be called out on it. What is it about my opinion that you disagree with?

I just want you to know that not all religious people are like that. There are people like me that I know who are not judgemental, willing to forgive and forget, and willing to love one another.

I'm going off my Catholic upbringing and reading the Bible, sitting in ccd till my confirmation and Catholic high school. God's a dick.

You know I'm very curious about this one point. I seem to notice that the majority of people I come across with thank God is a dick are former Catholics or people who have had a run in with the Catholic Church. Have any of you had the same experience?

It's never made sense to me. I honestly haven't believed since like 5th grade or maybe a bit earlier. But sitting in those classes, I just thought everything about God and religion is wrong. And it's it's right I want no part of it. After reading the Bible I just don't get where this loving God is. He's a spiteful murderous prick who needs to feed his own ego. And if you don't worship him well he's going to flood the world and kill all the people while they ride their pet dinosaurs.

I never understood this level of hatred towards God either. People are the one that mess up the world. It seems like it's easier just to rail against God though.

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience.

Again my point in all of this is to merely illustrate the fact that not all religious people are evil. I agree that some are yes. Those people suck.

Oh I didn't have a bad experience at all, I just formed my own opinion.

And it's not really hatred. You can't hate something that doesn't exist.

It was unpleasant in the sense I was sitting there listening to what I thought and still think is bullshit. No one was mean to me, no priests raped me, no nuns beat me. I think what I hate is how divisive religion makes everyone. Wars get waged over imaginary friends.

I despise that as well.

No one has the right answer. We're all fumbling around for it, but no one knows for sure. To me the arrogance of speaking for God is appalling. One thing is for sure, we're all going to find out the day we die. Scary and exciting and too many other things to name.

Man, I really enjoy talking about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness with y'all. :D

Most Christian people I know wouldn't consider me to be a Christian. That's ok because I don't seek their approval.

I believe in good. Doing right. Having integrity. Not succumbing to greed and temptation. If and when I meet my maker, I want him to say, "Good job lil homie! Now come smoke this heaven weed." :D
