Always liked Conor but I like him more & more when he does shit like this.
I don't think Conor's "anti-UFC" persona is real. I think they're well aware a lot of disgruntled fans don't like some policies, so this is a way to show Conor (who was strongly backed by them always, even now, getting the shot at 155) as someone who makes his own way, goes against company policies and pulls off a power move to show the company, a company whose most shortcomings have been attributed to and are personified by Dana. Is Dana the purest of dicks? He's certainly some form of a dick, but occasionally its obvious that he's also built up that way to be the scapegoat..In much a similar manner, this will increase McGregor's adoration with the fans..making him an icon of a fighter doing it right on his own terms....like a good individual contractor.

..Or you know, maybe I've smoked too much today and he just wants a bigger %PPV....or just doesn't really wanna fight RDA.

there are conflicting stories now. one says that conor is holding out for more money, while the other says its RDA.. frankly, I don't care whos holding out. fighters need to get paid. fighters need to understand that without them, there is no promotion. but there can always be a promotion when fighters are willing to scrap..

at the end of the day, the fighters have ALL the power when united.

im not a fan of conor, but if he is holding out. great for him.. if RDA is holding out, good get that money.

Side note: I don't fully agree with those who say that 'conor has ALL the power' over the ufc.. he has a ton of leverage, but he can only push it so far. the ufc knows that, although the competition is making up some ground, the second place mma org is miles behind.. if conor asks for too much and he doesn't play ball with the ufc, he could find himself on the sidlines for a while. idk how much a rizin, road or bellator could offer.. they could possibly offer him something nice if they all pitched in, but none have a ppv model(yet). which is why they go after tv fighters like Thomson and benson.

conor is a ppv fighter, and he demands a ton of money... but he needs to be smart about things.

Good for RDA. Think of the treatment Aldo received in the lead up, and he didn't bother chasing that extra money. Might as well try to get compensated for the public shafting you're about to receive from your boss.

Having said that:

"You're wrong, it's very common for us to cut guys on single fight losing streaks. It doesn't matter if he was the champion."

- Dana White.

Is this an actual quote? It has the perfect dose of redundancy and ignorance, the Dana essence.

I agree, ironically Chael revealed that he was privy to information from fox that Conor was the one holding out on signing for the Aldo fight......haters and naysayers jump on me but that's what he said 3 or 4 weeks ago....

Never trust a promoter, they'll always fuck you over - it's just a question of how much. McGregor will soon be at the point - like Mayweather - where he doesn't need a promoter.

Quick little fairy tale: there once was a boxer named Floyd Mayweather Jr and he was "promoted" by a guy named Bob Arum. Mayweather wanted bigger and bigger fights, but Arum never saw much earning potential in Mayweather, who was a defence-first slickster. Mayweather wanted Arum to set up a fight with Oscar de la Hoya and give him a gauranteed 20 million, but Arum said "He wants $20 million for the De La Hoya fight? It's not there. Sometimes, my man, you gotta know when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. We'll talk about things down the road".

Mayweather felt he was worth a lot more than Arum did, so he spent 750,000k of his own money to buy himself out of his contract with Arum. He starts up Mayweather Promotions and starts promoting himself. A year and 2 months later, he's fighting De la Hoya for a guaranteed 25 million dollar purse and quickly becomes the highest paid athlete in the world, culminating in a 200+ million dollar pay day against Pacquiao.

Moral of the story: true superstars don't need these blood sucking "suits" anymore, and I hope fighters like McGregor and Rousey realize this and start co-promoting with the UFC. It's your blood sweat and tears out there, don't let a bunch of mobsters take the lion's share of the proceeds.

No, I'm just fluent in Dana speak, and a knowledge of the professionalism (or lack thereof) he conducts himself with.

Although I understand the anecdote. Let's say McGregor did the same thing as FMJ. Who's he going to fight? The other freelance self promoted fighters? The UFC isn't set up like boxing, it's setup like a sports league.
