Although I understand the anecdote. Let's say McGregor did the same thing as FMJ. Who's he going to fight? The other freelance self promoted fighters? The UFC isn't set up like boxing, it's setup like a sports league.
Oh he can fight in the UFC, but I think he has the power to pull an M1 and get that co-promotion thing going, "UFC 236: A Zuffa/McGregor promotion". It'll start off with only co-promotion for the cards he fights on... then all of a sudden he has his own stable and he's co-promoting the events that they are on. And now all of a sudden McGregor promotions is negotiating for it's guys.

It sounds way too optimistic but I feel McGregor has the upper hand here. Who else is going to sell 1.2 million PPVs for them, or do a 10 million dollar gate? Who's going to get them the mainstream exposure not only here, but in Europe? Ronda was their other big draw and she ended up unconscious on the canvas. The eventual Rousey/Holm rematch is going to do big business, but what happens if Ronda loses that one? It's over, Johnny.

Conor is their golden goose. He also has the ability to cause a PR nightmare for the UFC if things get ugly. When Nate Diaz shits on the UFC or Reebok, it gets picked up by MMA sites and forums. If McGregor starts shitting on UFC/Reebok, it's going to get picked up by everyone. McGregor has the power, I hope he uses it to not only make himself filthy rich, but to open doors for other athletes to get their money. It just takes one person to bust that wide open, and Conor could be the guy.

Yup. Robbie should be able too based on his amazing fights and never say die attitude but without the shit talking that doesnt count for much with the mma fans of today.
Conor also has amazing fights and never say die attitude. If it were as simple as shit talk there would be a hundred Conors.

There's a 0% chance of that happening. It would mean not only Zuffa giving up their money, but it would also mean helping someone else to make their money.

True, but lets be real too. Chael talked his way to the top, so it can be done. That said, there just arent many fighters w/ personalities, which is why those that do stand out so much. Look at Robbie Lawler...a freaking savage. Everything a fan should want in a fighter they're going to spend their hard earned money on, and he's not a draw. Outside of hardcores, he's hardly even known. Its a shame really.

I agree, though I think the sale here is that a fighter can be successful if he's talented enough and promotes himself, so all you fighters don't need a union, you need to do the same thing! "Look at him, he's made it!"..As soon as he became champ, first comment on the UG Oh noes, there's a rift in the UFC-Conor relationship!!! Literally as soon as he became champ! classic BS PR drama.

Whoever it is, I hope they squeeze the life out of Dana and the Fertidas. Just as they did so with countless of fighters. Both McGregor and RDA deserve more money. I hope McGregor is going to be his worst nightmare.

Oh ye of little faith. I feel a new age dawning before us. The tides are turning, the tyranny and the bullshit has gone on too long.

That's what I'm hoping for. That Conor drags U Fight Cheap kicking and screaming into paying fighters their worth.

Conor will say it's his team, but in reality he thinks Dana and zuffa are a league of cunts and hes going to stick them for every penny he can get like he's the goddamn irs
I mean that literally. It was RDA holding things up, not Conor or his team.

I heard that the reason the fight isn't being announced is that RDA's manager wants McGregor to guarantee that win or lose he will fight Frankie (he also manages Edgar) at 145 in his fight following 197 whenever that may be. Dick move, imo.

Nobody signs a contract for two fights. That's unprecedented and for many reasons unfavorable for anyone to enter into an agreement like that, let alone Conor whose done more for mma than Frankie and RDA combined in less than half the time Edgar has been putting crowds to sleep with his skillful manhumping. Not a chance in hell someone the stature of Conor is gonna be subjected to that terrorist lol.

Why is it unfavorable? Conor has said he's going to defend both belts, Edgar is more than the rightful owner of the next title shot at 45. The manager is just protecting his client's best interests. It's a business and you capitalize where you can. I don't know if what you're claiming is true, but if it is, and the manager has Zuffa over a barrel, why not take advantage? They'd do it to any single one of their fighters.

Seems strange but then again, Abdelaziz, is a strange cat.

What if the RDA fight ends in controversy? I hope Frankie gets his shot but I cant really see him sitting out for half of a year waiting around for Conor. Frankie is ready to go, Chad was a warm up fight.
