That was a good Chaos. I do think you're probably reading a little extra into things, but you brought up some interesting tidbits of info.

One thing you're overlooking is Texas is a hot spot for mma. Axis/Legacy Fights, Shark Fights. UFC185 had half the area full 5 hours before the main event.

It's a tough situation for both parties.

If the UFC lets him go, they are allowing a competitor to take a commodity that they currently control.

On the side of Wand, a man has to earn a living and he can't as it stands right now.

I hope the UFC does let him go at some point this year. It's not right to hold a man under contract when he can't compete and earn a living.

What is expected of UFC? To offer Wand a fight? How can they offer him a fight when he's suspended?

That only feeds some "They have us by the balls, so we can claim all we like to clean up PED's, but we need Texas so we never will, but please believe us that were super cereal about it."

All I want to know, is when someone is going to ask the UFC why and what they think they are hoping to achieve here and whether the ignorant Texas aspect of this "cleanup" is intentional, facetiously ignorant or they really are just missing the obvious sitting in from of them.

They have been going to Texas for over a decade "No one has brought it up" ok guys! Sure thing!

I'm reading into the absurdity left out in the open. THIS IS ABSURD DOUBLE TALK

Well, he can't get a fight. He is banned from fighting, so what's the point in holding him under contract other than to avoid seeing him make a living for another MMA organization?

And if they NEED Texas to hold their policy hostage in order to make MMA work, then MMA is screwed and corrupt from top to bottom. end of story.

I get that you live in Texas and, I would too want events despite this as a consumer but you gotta see how currently with the PED issue, this looks absurd. They can take certain fighters there if they want and any fighter can juice their head off including titlefights.

At least when there was no random testing, it could be any and all title fights, now it's selective and sets up guys who win while roiding in one place and then potentially looking like shit or embarassed by someone used to not roiding in the next or failing and being stripped (The worst outcome possible for the UFC at this point)

And that's my question as well. Alverez had a similar problem ya?

Well, it's a different scenario. Wand's situation is worse because he literally can't make a living right now. At least Eddie could have continued to fight and make money.

But they are similar. People were criticizing Bjorn for the same shit.

They can offer him a fight outside the UFC where the NSAC doesn't have jurisdiction, but choose not to. Whether that is right or wrong course of action, to circumvent the NSAC and their ruling, they could do it. So it would depend on how the contract is worded to whether they are in breach.

I certainly agree with this sentiment. Neither Wand nor the UFC gains anything by being in business together at this point. I dont think Wand fighting for another organization hurts the UFC in the slightest.

I do think the UFC is getting some unfair criticism in all this though. The NSAC gave Wand his lifetime ban. They are the ones attempting to take away his livelihood. The UFC sets a terrible precedent if they release Wand. Now if a UFC contracted fighter feels like they can go make more money elsewhere whether it be Asia or somewhere else not regulated by athletic commissions, they can just walk out on a drug test. Take their ban and expect to be released.

correct me if I'm wrong but-

Hasn't Wand tried to get a job making a living.....for a RIVAL company?

Hasn't Wand made multiple videos talking crap about UFC and their policies?

Is the logic that UFC is supposed to let a star who has talked a lot of shit while under contract for them, go to a rival promotion? If Wand has badmouthed UFC while under contract for UFC, imagine what he'll say when he's not.

UFC is supposed to casually let this happen?

In principle it's not right, but business wise it makes NO sense for UFC to let a start go to a rival promotion to talk crap.

He began doing those things AFTER the UFC came out and said they were going to honor the NSAC's ban and shelve him.

If Zuffa would have shown Wand the same support they showed Jones and Anderson, I doubt Wand would have done those things.

Good point.

I think the problem is this is only being discussed by hardcores, not enough to make noise to the general fanbase. UFC has the right to do what they're doing, but they're not looking good and the more noise this makes, worse it looks for them.

People get so emotional when it comes to Wand and this topic.

Imo, just man up to your mistakes like Chael did. Take the test, and deal with the consequences.

Sprinting away from a test? Come on man.

Also remember, If Wands test was "illegal" then so was Chaels.

Chael will serve his suspension while still manage to make a living doing what he does. You have to be proactive.

Running from a test, then making YouTube videos about you getting screwed over won't make you any money.

Definitely he was in the wrong, but to punish him worse than guys who fail the test? That is just excessive. All of this really stems from the NSAC handing out an unusual punishment, because how is running away from a test worse than failing? And that much worse that it requires a life time ban? Just treat failures to take the test as an automatic fail and move on with things, then no one would be in this situation.

They have to set an example that running away from a test is not acceptable. Otherwise, instead of popping, we will see guys doing the 400m dash weekly.

His ban isn't a lifetime ban. Its "indefinite" I.e if he actually makes an effort to own up to his mistake, the NSAC will put him on the road to fighting again. Kind of like a probation.

Believe me, I was fucking pissed when I heard about Chael and Wand both failing. I wanted to see that fight bad. Chael getting suspended was like a punch in the stomach but I'm not going to argue that he's a slave because he can't fight in another organization.

I don't think you will see many people running if they automatically fail the test. Only guys who were going to piss hot anyway, so who cares?

I was under the impression it was an indefinite ban as well when this last came up, but someone linked me to an article which think is this one Wanderlei Silva seeks court review of NSAC’s lifetime ban | MMAjunkie and it is lifetime ban and not an indefinite ban.

Here's another Wanderlei Silva receives lifetime ban from NAC, fined $70,000 - MMA Fighting

Meh.. I don't want to argue with anyone on here about this. Anyone who's seen me post before knows I don't care about Peds.

If it was up to me, Wand and Chael would have already fought with a courtesy post fight test so they both could have cycled off.

They're both just some old school badasses that aren't used to the new random testing.

did he have several other tests that he failed? I don't recall. If so, then maybe the ban is just, if not, then it's a failed test, give the punishment and move on. Don't agree with the UFC keeping him under contract tho.

-Wand didn't want to fight, says he wasn't ready, twice. UFC mad.

-UFC sends NSAC TO FUCKING BRAZIL OOC to "git him"

Does anyone else see things the way I do?

Like, obvious?

Fertitta= On NSAC commission w/Ratnner

Fertitta/Ratner=Current UFC heads

It's like no one watches these NSAC hearings....

SMH

Legal/Illegal=Not the point

THE POINT IS, almost everyone and their mother in the UFC is on sauce, PARTICULARLY the old schoolers RAISED on it. Including BLAF and Lorenzo "Ferrigno" Fertitta.

THE UFC PUNISHES THOSE WHO DON'T "PLAY THE GAME" <<<<<direct quote from White re: Diaz

Why is anyone so caught up in legalities?
They are arbitrary and change according to the puppetmaster!!!!!
Since time began!!!

This isn't conspiracy, it's fact.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
If not, why would UFC pay $100,000,000.00 to keep their books closed?
For a PR hit???!!!!
LOL

I stand by Wand, the guy who made us fans for 20 years, not some fucking bureaucrats.
