I know bro.VTFU! I AM ojibwe and live on Ojibwe land. Well kinda, I'm mostly a white guy but am a member of the tribe. Ttt for Ojibwe deer, the best kind you can get.
.450 for hogs? What, 45-70 didn't want any of that?Glock Model 21 -- .45cal
Springfield XD(M) -- 9mm 3.8"
Knight Muzzleloader -- .50cal
Remington 783 -- .30-06 SPRG
Remington 700 -- .270 WIN
Up next is either a Springfield 1911 TRP or a custom AR chambered in .450 Bushmaster for hogs.
We're chartering into AR-10 waters there. I wanted to stick to an AR-15 in order to swap out uppers for deer and home defense. The .458 SOCOM crossed my mind as a good hog thrasher after reading an article on it..450 for hogs? What, 45-70 didn't want any of that?
I'm just giving you the gears. I think just about any caliber has its merits, and I'm particularly fond of stuff a little more obscure (300blk, 458 socom, 450 bushmaster) most of them are pretty redundant though. A semi auto .308 would be just as effective, and much easier to find ammo for. Hell a lever gun in 30-30 would fit the bill for what you want. There simply isn't anything more fun than a lever gun, lol. We're chartering into AR-10 waters there. I wanted to stick to an AR-15 in order to swap out uppers for deer and home defense. Lever gun would be amazing haha. I've had traditional rifles my entire life, so thought building something unique would spark up some good conversations around a camp fire.I'm just giving you the gears. Come to think of it, my lever in .243 would fit the bill pretty well too. Man, I should have brought that to the range yesterday. I love that thing.Lever gun would be amazing haha. I've used my brother's old .243 on a hunt and had to double tap one. With the .270, .30-06, and .243 it's like your shot placement has to be absolutely perfect. I'm of the spine shot variety and go for a shot midway between the ear and shoulder. I found that if the hog moved or if my shot was a little off, my .270 would sometimes just wound it and we'd be tracking.Come to think of it, my lever in .243 would fit the bill pretty well too. Why not just aim for the bigger target?I've used my brother's old .243 on a hunt and had to double tap one. With the .270, .30-06, and .243 it's like your shot placement has to be absolutely perfect. Meat. My dad raised me to take the harder shots in order to conserve as much meat as possible. Every doe I have ever shot was a head shot and bucks were through the neck, unless they were trophy size. When he took me on my first hog hunt, he showed me where to hit them and it's where I've been aiming ever since lolWhy not just aim for the bigger target?
You're not damaging much (if any) meat if you hit it in the vitals. Mmmmm bacon.Meat. My dad raised me to take the harder shots in order to conserve as much meat as possible. How'd you make it? And what does it do?Does this beast count?

Please stop shooting deer in the neck. That's an asshole thing to do. If you're going to kill an animal for food, kill it as quickly as possible. Aim for the vitals.Meat. Edit*** Unless we're talking the long shots out passed 150yds, then it's the big target and just have to sacrifice some of that delicious venison or pork.
Huh? A neck shot drops them instantly. The only deer we've ever had to track was when I was younger and shooting behind the shoulder. Please stop shooting deer in the neck. That's an asshole thing to do. If you're going to kill an animal for food, kill it as quickly as possible. Aim for the vitals.
I have a CZ P-06, similar to yours but in .40. That's my favorite/nicest pistol. Big fan of CZ, they're great firearms. But hardly anyone I know has one.Just picked up CZ 75 sp01, i love it! Haven't customized anything yet cuz it shoots pretty awesome! Sold my springfield xdm, i like to own one gun at a time and master it. If i need to pick up a bug out gun, probably try to find the Phantom with the polymer frame, but i live in Cali and that one is not on the roster.
Rifles, i'll buy soon. I'm looking more into 7.62x39 caliber cuz of the cheap price of that caliber. Shot plenty of 5.56 and its alright, but bit pricy and probably have to expand shit load of ammo for hunting purpose. So my choices are probably an AK with tech sights or ghost sights. 5.56 def has more range / accuracy but if u do need to ambush someone, realistically u'll set up within 150 or less distance and thats the effective range for 7.62x39.
And thats all i need, 1 main gun and 1 side arm.
