It fucked his eye sight up completely (tore his iris) and he killed himself in a car accident years later after not being able to keep a job and falling into a hardcore drinking problem

Panama Lewis removed the padding from Luis Resto's gloves before the fight. It went the distance with 14-0 21 year old Irish Billy Collins Jr showing the heart and chin of a lion. He was busted up horribly from a fighter considered feather fisted. After the fight Sr noticed the gloves had been tampered with.
Billy committed suicide the following year in his home state of Tennessee. Resto went to prison and never fought again because his license was revoked. Lewis as well. Unfortunately both are still alive. Resto admitted to it eventually but not Lewis. Assault in the ring. Check it out.

the dad demanded the gloves be impounded, which showed that 1 oz of padding was removed from each glove. The wraps were not confiscated, and Resto admitted that Lewis had soaked the wraps in plaster of paris. So Resto was effectively hitting Collins with a sack of gravel, but only the removal of padding was considered in the criminal charges.
Billy died less than a year after the assault, and his death ended the lawsuits against Top Rank and the NYSAC.

He still trains fighters but he can't corner them in any legal sanctioned bout. I've always wondered how many times he did something like what he did with Resto vs Collins.
I know of the Aaron Pryor incident but that was different.
