Marlins scored 22 runs last night against the Rangers.
The game took 4 hours and 2 minutes.

Adrian Beltre was yelled at by the ump for warming up away from the on deck circle. The ump told him to stay on the circle mat, so Beltre grabbed the mat and pulled it to where he was warming up at. EJECTED.

Gold.

I love when this shit happens. Since we no longer have take out slides or managers going postal every other game this stuff is the next best thing. Fucking hilarious and I think the ump was right. Beltre has been playing long enough to know how to steal pitches and get his timing down from the official on deck circle.

Beltre has been around forever. I'd be curious to see if he always positions himself there when on deck.

I think the ump was on a bit of a power trip - unless the pitcher complained and that's what prompted the request.

Either way - Fucking hilarious reaction from Beltre. Love it.

Beltre has a legit shot at the HOF. Seems like he gets overlooked alot because he plays on shit teams.

Baseball managers arguing with umps still looks as stupid as it did back in the day.....laughable

If I ran a team I'd have Lou Panela on staff just to get in an umps face a few times a year
Was it 2nd base that he chucked into right field?

I love watching grown men in uniform act like children. Very entertaining.

LMAO. MLB players routinely warm up off of the mat, the same way base coaches ignore their boxes.

Beltre's been in the league a LONG time, so he wasn't hearing it.

edit: damn I never knew about this
Dude. That team was a ball of fire. So much fun. They couldn't go a month without getting in a fight.

Remember Norm Charlton lighting up Mike Scioscia?

And Dibble chucking the ball at the guy that had the nerve to bunt on him?

And then there was the game where Tim Teuful was 4 for 4 so Dibble beaned him.

was that in the world series year? I was 4 when that happened & in Langley, Virginia, only thing we could see was sportscenter highlights on clear nights and Orioles games, wish a team like that would come again

Yeah. 1990. Wire to wire. They were never not in 1st place.

I went to Game 1 of the World Series.
Still got the stub:

Aaron Judge broke a tooth during a celebration after Brett Gardner's walkoff HR in the 11th inning over the Rays.
He isn't expected to miss any time.

****

Some interesting races developing in the AL:

Yankees are only 1/2 game behind Boston in the East.

Cleveland (winners of 7 in a row) and the Royals (winners of 8 in a row) are both on fire right now. CLE maintains a 2 game lead over KC in the Central.

The AL West is firmly controlled by Houston (17 game lead).

The only interesting race in the NL is in the Central, but I think it's generally considered a given that the Cubs will run away with that division from here on out. Chicago currently has a 1-1/2 game lead over Milwaukee, who has fallen apart losing 9 of their last 11 games. The two teams start a 3 game series in Milwaukee tonight.

Washington owns the East with a 13 game league, and the Dodgers own a 12 game lead in the West.

Boston takes a huge hit.

David Price has been placed on the DL. Tightness in his throwing elbow. Same issue that kept him out of games earlier in the season.

Trade deadline is Monday, but Boston doesn't have many prospects that are typically used as trade bait for a proven veteran.

Price was scheduled to start tonight as the Red Sox open their 3 game series with the Royals, winners of 8 in a row. Brian Johnson will start in place of Price tonight. This will be his 6th start of the season. He is 2-0 with a 4.33 ERA. 21 Ks in 27 innings. He has a 1.48 WHIP - which is pretty high for someone with a decent K/Inning ratio.

After KC, the Red Sox square off against the equally hot Indians.

All of this points to moving time in the AL East. I expect the Yankees to be in 1st place after this weekend.

Edit : ESPN just reported that Rick Porcello is starting for Boston tonight. My sources might be wrong.

Adrian Beltre is 2 hits shy of 3000.

He is 31st on the all time hit list, and in his next 50 hits he will pass the likes of Roberto Clemente, Wade Boggs, Lou Brock, Rod Carew and Rickey Henderson.

He is also 6 HRs shy of 500. That's a total achieved by only 27 players in the history of MLB.

Lifetime average of .286 over a 20 year career.

The more I look at his numbers, the more I think he's a lock for the Hall of Fame.

After going 0/3 on July 1, Jose Altuve went on a tear in July.
19 game hitting streak. 14 multi-hit games.

He's batting .506 in July.

Check out his box. I included his doubles as well - he's hit a double in his last 5 games.

Incredible.

Yankee stadium is like a little kids park.

Who's the idiot that designed that debacle?

Probably the same guy who hired their loser announcer

MLB Trade Deadline is today at 4 PM.

Starting Pitcher Sonny Gray (Oakland) is probably the #1 pitcher that will likely be dealt. Yankees are the favorite to land him.
Yu Darvish and Justin Verlander are also big name guys that could be packing their bags soon.

I'm curious to see if the Reds will deal SS Zack Cozart today. He is a free agent after this season anyway.
He has a slash of .317 / .402 / .568
