Well, speculating of course, but what is the role of that woman? Did any of you know her?
Women can make men do crazy things sometimes.
Sounds like 58 dead and over 500 injured now.
The truth lies somewhere in the middle. Having a gun in that situation wouldn't have protected you. Similarly, someone that determined to kill people wouldn't have been deterred by gun laws. Any large public gathering makes people susceptible to a major escalation. In the last year we're seen people at festivals killed in large number by bombs, and vehicles. Guns aren't the common denominator of mass killings, crazy people are.
Logically speaking...if all guns suddenly become illegal and it's a federal mandate that they are all to be turned in - who is more likely to hand over their weapons? Law-abiding citizens or criminals? Obviously you will get resistance from both sides, but the argument makes sense.
And I'm not making the argument. Just giving you an example how this particular scenario can be used from both sides to support their stance on the issue.
My heart goes out to anyone effected by this. You have to wonder how Aldean is handling this, fucking crazy.
I get that side but I don't like such extreme measures from either side. I'd never suggest guns be banned nation wide. Having said that having full auto guns available seems equally retarded. If a civilian goes in to buy a silencer they need to be questioned by authority.
If memory serves Australia's compliance in their buy back program was between 20-30% of the guns actually in public ownership.
In Canada full auto was available to the public until 1996. When I say that, I mean you could walk into Canadian Tire and buy a machine gun.
Suppressors are legal in every G7 country except Canada, in some European countries they're mandatory (People who live next to shooting ranges or in areas where hunting occurs demand them) A suppressed gun still runs over 100db. In the U.S. you need to go through a somewhat lengthy process to buy a suppressor, and even then they run in the 1000's of dolllars and require specific ammunition to work at all. It's not at all like the movies.

Interesting info. Just to be clear I've stated multiple time here already I'm not up on stats and so on and don't think for a second it's like the movies.
I'm not sure how things are in ONT but here in BC gums are still something that doesn't sit well with the vast majority of people. I can guarantee you you that if I had company over or were visiting friends or family and somebody decides to go get their gun to show its not gonna go over well. I'd expect a whole bunch of "wtf dude?" and at the very least make everyone feel weird. Even if it's grandpa's old hunting rifle that was passed out n after death people don't want out in the open with people around. If there's kids you're gonna get called an asshole.
I'm not saying out of sight out of mind is good but just making a point at the Starks contrast on how guns are tolerated where I am compared to say LV.

For me personally? I'd only buy a gun if I was going to pursue hunting. Protection in my house may be like a 5% factor but even then that's doubtful.
Also reading that it was a semi auto that was modified to be full auto called bump fire or something like that

And that's completely fair. Hunting, and in very rare instances self defense. I might add target shooting to the list too for myself personally. But we can agree those are logical reasons to own a gun, right?
