It is illegal, all automatic weapons made after 1986 are illegal for private citizens. Pre-86 weapons require registration, extensive FBI background checks, & approx. $20k to pay for the process

edit: just read the bump fire link, no idea if that's illegal but I doubt that's what was used.
Listen to the shots again
People saying that if you buy the gun stock with bump fire it is not illegal
Again I'm just repeating what I've read so far and know nothing about these shots

Shouldn't a full auto be consistent firing?

BTW - a bump stock requires that you maintain forward pressure to achieve continuous fire, thereby meeting the BATFE rule that one squeeze of the trigger release one round.

As a matter of practicality, it's not any faster at delivering rounds than putting a light trigger on a rifle and firing it as fast as you can.

sure, then all you have to do is make sure that you put all the casings and the rifles that you used in room with the dead body. Oh - and make sure you grab all the security camera footage on your way out.

solid plan.

If the assassins were located in a room close by it wouldn't be hard...knock on targets door - execute operation, signal for team
Members to usher in weapons into subjects room ..take position and fire away....frame the room by leaving all fire arms, casings, and body.

If this was a hit, the ones performing the hit are in a position of power ..wouldn't be hard to get ahold or tamper with security footage.

We still haven't seen the footage confiscated from the gas station across the street from the pentagon on 911..that footage was taken by the FBI and still has not been released

Ya I hadn't heard of this before but the stuff I read described it exactly how you do

It kind of makes sense if you listen to the shots, the firing isn't consistent at all like I would expect a true full auto to be

I've only shot guns twice so I'm a complete novice at gun related stuff
I thought the gunfire was incredibly consistent.

If that's what I think it is, it's a stock that you can put on your gun, and it takes the inertia of the blast (the kick) and makes the gun fire again in quick succession. Basically the gun rocks back and forth and the each time it rocks it makes the gun fire again, effectively turning a semi-auto into an auto. I know a guy who has the setup for it here in Cali. I haven't heard anything about the shooter using this, but if it's true I'm guessing something will be done to make it illegal. I'd likely support that myself; when I saw what you can do with it, I was shocked that it hadn't been illegal yet.
Getting a "rig" that would accommodate that makes sense to me. Manually doing that would seem very tough to pull off for as many rounds as were fired in this scenario.

Any possibility the guy was set up? Two assassins located in a room next door posing as room service knocked on his door shoots him in the head with a silencer right away (suicide) take position at the window and take turns alternating weapons firing off shots. Frame the room then retreat...

several events in the past bunch of years I suspect were likely false flags all had security cameras either 'not functioning' during the event, or were seized and classifed by authorities. MSM doesn't seem to worry about these things though

Forget the conspiracy talk, but I did find it weird how quickly they seemed to rule out the possibility of a 2nd shooter.

Logic states there must be a very good reason for that, but it it's slightly odd. Paddock was dead before they got to him (it was falsely reported that police killed him) and it should have taken a fair bit of time to go through security footage.

There were false reports of shooting from a bunch of the casinos so I agree I don't see how they could rule out another shooter

From what I've read the media was playing up the whole no 2nd shooter while LVPD was doing a full on check on hotels looking for more shooters

Not really a trap, more an exercise. You seem like a pretty rational, average guy as far as I can tell. If those are the reasons you'd want to own a gun, why don't we assume that those are the reasons everyone else would to? Why would your friends think that owning a gun would turn you into some sort of bloodlusting monster? The answer is social engineering. Our government has convinced us they need guns, but we can't be trusted with them.
how dare you call the birdwatcher average. birdwatcher is extraordinary. and for the record, i could be wrong, but all signs from the way she types points to her being a teenage girl. i'll keep reading the thread, but i bet she got mad at you for callng her a guy

Suspect in Las Vegas shooting identified as Stephen Paddock
The suspected gunman behind the Las Vegas massacre made several large gambling transactions in recent weeks, according to law enforcement officials.

The transactions in Las Vegas by Stephen Paddock were in the tens of thousands, the officials said.

It was not immediately clear if those transactions were losses or wins.
The suspect's father was arrested in 1969 and according to the warrant, he was diagnosed as psychopathic, carried a firearm and was considered "armed and dangerous." It listed his nicknames as "Big Daddy," "Chromedome," and "Old Baldy."

An archived newspaper article from the Arizona Republic on Oct. 6, 1960 described Benjamin Paddock as a three-time bank robber, who was accused of stealing approximately $25,000 from three Phoenix, Arizona, bank branches. He was arrested in Las Vegas, and "indicted on three counts of robbing Phoenix branches of the Valley National Bank," the article says.

Thanks homie. I hate to burst their bubbles but he was a loner type. He never wanted help from anyone for anything. It’s still a mystery as to why he snapped but he wasn’t one to collude with others.

lueVelvet @lueVelvet thinking about your family. No idea how I'd handle this happening to my family.

One of my sisters best friends and a girl I've went to fights in Vegas with was at Mandalay Bay. She is ok but freaking out.

Unfortunately a hair client of my sister was also there and was shot it the head. Apparently she just got out of surgery but can't be good.

Crazy world we are living in
