Fair play but then stories like this come out and it's tough to say they're totally wrong.
I'm at work and don't really have time to delve into the rest of your post right now. But my counter to that would be, what about the Manchester bombing? What about Nice? When people want to do horrendously bad shit to other people they're going to find a way. As I said earlier, the common denominator isn't guns, it's crazy people.

Do you realize our nation was founded by a violent revolution against the greatest military in the world, and that the deciding factor in the early stages was our citizens' access to infantry weapons?
Ireland had many uprisings and an ultimately successful armed rebellion against that same country, Haiti vs France, take your pick in South America vs the Spanish etc. and those countries don't worship guns like the US does.

lueVelvet @lueVelvet thinking about your family. No idea how I'd handle this happening to my family.

One of my sisters best friends and a girl I've went to fights in Vegas with was at Mandalay Bay. She is ok but freaking out.

Unfortunately a hair client of my sister was also there and was shot it the head. Apparently she just got out of surgery but can't be good.

Crazy world we are living in

:( My sister just sent me this from the family of her client that was shot

Horrendous news. I hate to say it but it's amazing this kind of thing doesn't happen more often with the amount of wackos out there and the relatively easy access to firepower (not saying that to advocate gun control, just a thought).

This kind of thing brings out the ugliness in everyone. People start politicizing these events while the bodies are still lying on the street. Half the people are praying it's an Arab and the other half are praying it's a white guy, each just itching to scream "SEE I TOLD YOU!" into the other side's face. Then you have that vice president of CBS who got fired for saying she didn't feel bad because country music lovers are usually Republicans. It's both unbelievable and sad how partisan people can be, where they actually lose all empathy and respect for fellow human beings because of differing political beliefs.

yes, and despite those empires' best efforts to learn from the American colonial experience and limit the under-represented minority's access to infantry weapons, those rebellions still managed to acquire an utilize those weapons. And those were ISLANDS.

let's not talk theory and generality, exactly how do you propose overcoming the Constitutional restrictions on firearm laws, and how do you propose implementing that solution?

Alternatively, explain why the state is more virtuous and trustworthy with weapons than the individual.

Or I could not care about your questions. I was merely pointing out that there is no correlation between statehood being achieved through armed rebellion and the amount of guns present in that society centuries later.
