Today we pulled my son out of his swimming lesson. We haven't really been thrilled with his new instructor. I had told her last week to save swimming on his own (which makes him go under) for last so he builds up to it and doesn't spend the whole lesson crying. She said ok. Then this week she started with it ten minutes into a 30-minute lesson, and when he got upset, she continued to force it (again). So I went to the front desk and told them I want a different instructor.
My husband came out with my son a couple minutes later. The instructor had dunked him under water, while he was screaming and crying. My husband ran into the pool area (we sit behind an observation window with other parents) and ended the lesson. Luckily, my son hadn't taken in too much water. He let out two big belches when we were getting him dressed, and then he seemed to be ok.
Unfortunately, the only instructor available, starting two weeks from now, is new. But we're going to give him a chance. If it doesn't work out, we will have to get on a waiting list for another place.

Well, there was probably a little more going off than I indicated. Also, we freaked out another parent there who realized his son was going to be with the same instructor next.
But the girl at the desk handled me very well in that she basically just agreed with everything I said and gave me what I wanted.
The context also is that my son has had two previous instructors in this place who were really wonderful with him, and worked really patiently to build his trust and confidence. He was almost ready for his second level promotion when he started with this one. He may be a little behind where he was now, but I'm hoping the new instructor can get him back there.
The one thing I always tell him about this is that he has to be safe, so he has to learn to swim. Completely giving it up is not an option. So if something else happens that makes us want to leave this place entirely, we will just keep looking for places until we find the right one.

He is so funny. They think they are too old for mommie kisses so I pucker and make a kissing sound at their cheek when they hug me. Well last night I misjudged movement and kissed his ear. He leaned back and put both hands up and said, "whoa. Let's take a moment to figure out what went wrong here."

Do I tell him to watch a you tube video to learn how to put it on? And tell him to practice beforehand? I don't want it to be so awkward when the time comes that he just doesn't bother with it.

She likes to just get cozy on the couch and try to order me around with the things she wants. It’s hard work taking her anywhere. At the library or store she fixated on wanting to see or hold something and will squawk when I change course. At the mall the other day she melted down every time we passed the escalator because she wanted to to go up the down escalator.She’s a real asshole.

If you’re really worried about It I’d say you could bring it up half joking “make sure you know how to use it”.
But I’m pretty sure he can manage on his own, they aren’t hard to figure out.

A few facts.
This is the age of porn. If your kid has a cellphone, they've watched porn. Or if their friend has a phone. They watch it at school, on the bus, etc.
I felt like I had to talk to my boys about the difference in sex you watch in porns and the sex you may have with someone you are in a relationship with.
Remember when we used to sneak and get a kiss, sometimes from people who you weren't dating? Kids treat oral sex casually like that nowadays. And even the good girls send nudes.
A group of Girls, at the lunch table, told my son that girls don't like pubes and he should shave at age 12.
Their mentality about sex is different. But I guess it would be growing up watching hard core porn.

I think it really is a huge change in culture and society. Kids watching porn as their first introduction to sex. Some of the shit these kids have seen before they even understand what sex is about. Growing up thinking woman orgasm from titty fucking. The pressure on teen girls to fake orgasms must be huge. I imagine real honest sex must be “anti-climactic” to kids after the circus shit they’ve watched. I bet they feel pressure to try to compete, flipping each other upside down and trying stupid positions.
When I was 15, sex was a waterbed, a Boys 2 Men cassette on a boom box, 20 pumps in missionary with your socks on and that was good enough for us GOD DAMN IT!!! Eating ass was for psychopaths.

AND I've had to deal with the transgender issue at age 11. A. Girl from my son's circle of friends came out in a group chat and said she was transgender. Alice is now Alex and you are a piece of shit if you slip up and call it a she. And the girl had tried to "date" (that's what they call it now) my son the year before. He was a lil traumatized. Last year, another girl came out and claimed to be transgender. She said that she had both parts sometimes. My son was enraged because that had to be a lie. I had to explain some possibilities there. That was an interesting conversation.
Btw, this year Alex confessed to having some kind of sexual relationship with at least 12 girls. Most girls are being taught that bisexual is normal.

That is what I don’t understand about transgenderism. If you’re an adult of course live anyway you want, but I don’t understand how someone can be defined as transgendered as a child. Isn’t it largely hormones that define our biological sex? How can someone who hasn’t hit puberty yet feel like they are of the other gender?
